I lived very close to Orlando for 25+ years.I used to hit the nightspots there on occasion, as did many where I lived. I am not gay, but knew or know LGBT persons either living in Orlando or the surrounding area. I read and reread the death notices, praying I don't find someone I knew. Even if I don't, I know that it deeply affects not only the LGBT community in Orlando, but the entire city and the entire country. However, I find a small amount of comfort in knowing how Floridians and indeed, the entire USA respond to tragedies. Hope lies in the strength and fortitude of our nation and our peoples, and I pray that we shall overcome these senseless acts of inhumanity !!

I come from a family of Law Enforcement Officers, mostly New York State Police. Through the years I've heard of many horrific acts of violence, but this is by far the very worst ! My wife and I's thoughts and prayers are with the family members as they try to cope with their loss. Enough is Enough !

I pray for our Law Enforcement Officers, as well as all other first responders, daily.
We live in a time where attacks on LEOs occurs all to often.

I have been in contact with Syd Carr. What you may not know is that he lives close to Big Sur and has some community ties up there with a local school & community center. Up there, everything including homes are scarce. No building happens there and has not for quite some time.

At this point a long term friend (Todd) has lost his home and about 50 others have also. Syd asked today...

"Please put my friend Todd from Big Sur on the prayer list, (and all the other Soberanes Fire victims too). :

So this morning I am asking that each of us take just a moment to say a prayer for all those affected by Mother Nature and the ravages of fire in this area.

Lord, we are asking that you watch over all those affected and that you hold them in your loving arms as they move forward with their lives. Give them strength and peace. Amen

Thanks for your prayers. We are still gathering information about fire victims, so all I know so far is that my friend Todd & wife Josie definitely need our prayers to help them rebuild their lives. I called and left a message but have not heard back from them yet. I heard this morning that the son of one of my fellow Directors of the community center lost two storage building filled with tools & equipment, but that his home survived, so at least that's something positive.

When we identify any official relief efforts aimed at helping fire victims I will share that info here, but like I said it is an ongoing developing situation.

Here is a link to current daily information about the fire: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4888/. 43,000 acres burned so far, expected to end up at a staggering 160,000 acres before containment; (18% contained as of today); total personnel fighting the fire now is over 5,000. 57 residences & 11 outbuildings destroyed so far.

Keep the prayer chain going, I'll try to keep you informed.

I received a message today from a friend of Howard P Reynolds, I am going to share with you. I cannot begin to share with you how heart broken I am. Howard P. Reynolds was a special person and helped me along my way here at iKC. He always had a kind word and some sage advise when asked. You will always be here with us Howard and it was an honor to be considered your friend

Hello, this is Beverly. I'm sorry to say Howard passed away on August 1. His heart gave out. I know you would want to know and would relay this to his friends on IKC. He enjoyed this group very much and talked about it often with obvious enjoyment.

I don't know if he every indicated how ill he was. He had several medical issues and all of them were a strain on his heart. Howard struggled long and bravely, always keeping his cheerful demeanor.

I am blessed to have shared 6 loving years with him, a heart full of kindness and good character. I miss him so much.
