Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

John, I just got this Kinfolks camper/bowie knife. im hoping you can help date it within reason and verifie that the crossguard is original.  The tang stamp just says Kinfolks inc. , no location is stated as on some others. it does not look like its ever been apart and it was very tanished and covered in that green gunk brass gets so i cleaned it off, ive just never seen one of these style knives with anything other than a flat plated or nickle crossguard. Thanks forthe help, I know how much you love these high end knives of mine. lol

Michael- The crossguard is original- This should answer your questions nicely-LOL

Michael-Sorry for the picture resolution but it is pretty much the same as I found it here-

http://kinfolksinc.com/catalogs/1940.htm   However, this may be a fairly rare knife as I have searched extensively and have so far not found another example other than the Ebay listing where I assume  you bought it.

awesome info as usual. I looked at that site begore posting and couldnt find it. cool thanks. by the way i paid a bit more than a follar.

Yes, that was my knife, I paid more than Iwantec to but I thought it was i teresting and I had just missed a good buy because of internet failure so I was mad and did not want to loose ot. lol, ebay can be dangerous .

Darn, I wish I could read the text. I tied the wensite and its unreadanle there too. Oh well, I may never know what makes it better than a civil war era riflemans knife.

Michael or John,

Do we know where this ad was originally printed?  I know of a couple of knife Museums that have great library's.  If we could narrow down where they need to be looking we may be able to find a readable copy.  Darn it I want to know what made it better also!

I do t know, I tried to email the Kinfolks website where John got it but it wouldnt go thru. Its probanly in a 1940 issue of a sportsmans magazine.

Not only bettet, but better and only $1.00, you cant beat that.
