Help with a CASE flea market find.

I have been collecting knives for about 2 years. I am very intersted in Case knives. I am retired so I have to hunt for CASE bargains. I just purchased a CASE 9254 pattern knife at my local flea market. Unfortunatly no box or papers but it looks like it it new. The handle is bright red with a slight touch of silver. I assume the handle is corelon but I can't find a knife with the same color configuration any where on the net. There is no engraving on the blade. The base of the knife shows x .x on first line Case xx on second line with x x.x on the third line (maybe 2007?). It is not a fire in the box config. Any help identifying the name of the color config or the fact that it is corelon will be greatly appectiated

3 dots = 2007

7 dots = 2003

If it is Corelon then chances are the knife is a Frost/Case collaboration sold via Cutlery Corner Network. A picture would definitely help. This might explain the lack of a box and/or papers.

With the 9 in the number 9254 it is corelon. This is a 2 blade trapper.

Case started with 5 x's, and 5 dots in 2000. For each year thereafter, they have been removing one dot. once the dots are gone then they go to the X's

same for 2010-present except notice the difference in the case xx a wide fancy C

by the looks of it your knife is a 2003....since it is missing 3 dots

Pretty certain these are Case Licensed "Fire in the Box" knives put out by Frost's Cutlery Corner Network (CCN).

I've heard two different versions on how the Corelon is put on the knives. At first I heard the Case Knives were shipped to CCN complete except scales and then CCN out-sourced the attachment of the Corelon to their factory in China. The other story I heard is that CCN supplied the handle material to Case for attachment. Currently CCN is stating these Case/CCN/Corelon knives are product of Michael Prater of Painted Pony fame.

In the long run, any or all of the stories above could be true because Case and Frost has been producing these knives for going on 10+ years and I know at one time Case and CCN had some legal discussions about how they were being marketed which resulted in some very interesting wording being placed on the boxes. Case list Corelon as a type of simulated mother of pearl. However, more accurately it is simulated Coralline. Coralline is a type of rock formed by the death of layers of Coralline algae. It is visually quite bright like the algae.

People has said that Corelon is the same Corian but that all comes from the same citation on the internet and I doubt it is true. Corelon is a registered trademark and that trademark is held by Jim Frost. It was first used for knives in 2001, Frost applied for trademark in 2004 and was given the registered TM for the name in 2006. If Corelon were Corian, this would not have happened.

Here's the truth about Corelon and Case knives.

Corelon is a product developed by Michael Prather Enterprises of Flintstone, Ga. (he does not call it corelon, but I can't remember exactly what he called it). Case ships the knives to His shop and he puts the handles on and sends them to Frost and one dealer in Kentucky. So rest assured all these knives are truly made in the USA. If you are not familiar withe Michael Prather his products are better known as Painted Pony. I have been to his shop several times and even toured the shop where all the work is done. He has a couple of barrels of old scale materials he has taken off Case knives before they started sending them without scale already on.

Um, Not sure if Mr Prater, developed Corelon or not but I do know who holds the TM for the product. Prater's painted pony knives are exceptional but normally feature real stones. I'm also not 100% sure Prater has always done the work for Frost. I know they are quick to point it out these days but that has not always been the case.
