Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Have any of you seen the offerings from the Case CC? It's their 35 th Anniv. I've posted pixs of their special editions.

What do you think of their offerings?

They're pricey. The canoe is $144 and the trapper is $128. Do you think they're worth the asking price?

Do you ever think they'll appreciate in value?

What do you think will be their quality? Have any of you experienced a special edition Case that was not up to snuff?

Just curious about your opinions. Thanks.

Micheal,

Thanks for sharing them!  I think the Annual club knives are well worth the money!  As far as the canoe and the trapper are concerned, I do not know that we will live to see them increase in value.  I don't however,  buy very many knives with the thought that they will increase anything but my joy.

I have bought a Case collectible or two in my time and I do have to say they always have excellent fit and finish. I would have no idea as to the steel holding up but I can say I have never worn one out polishing it LOL

The one that attracted my attention was the #27613 - Tear Drop (TB62028W SS).

I like both the teardop model & the wharncliffe blade.

However

The SS indicates it's their "Tru-Sharp" Surgical Steel .. quite likely 420HC.

A.G.Russell's site indicates a temper of 54~57 HRC.

imo

That's not very good blade steel by today's standards ..and.. it's a relatively soft temper.

Do I think it will appreciate in my lifetime .. no.

Do I think it's worth the money .. $68.50 .. not really .. I can buy better steel for that amount .. e.g. D2.

D ale, thanks for the input. The tear drop is only available if you're a life member but I too like it a lot.

Enlightening point about the soft steel. I would have never even thought about that. But a knife like this is a collectable rather than a user. I would think the concern is rust and being that type of steel I would think it can hold up pretty well. The knife was made to only look pretty. We're paying for all the "special edition" extras. I appreciate your view.
