Montana Bill Would Up Blade Length Criteria for CCW

Montana State Representative Kirk Wagoner has introduced HB 533 that makes extensive revisions to the state's concealed weapon laws and includes a revision that would raise the lower limit for knives covered under their CCW from 4 inches to 6 inches.  If passed, this would mean that it would be legal to carry a knife with a blade under 6 inches long without a concealed carry permit.

We would rather see knives removed from the concealed carry provisions altogether, but any improvement is welcome.  We'll be monitoring this bill and will advise if any action is required.
