Many additions have been added to the tactical line of knives, including Buck's first automatic. The 898 Impact springs open with the slide of a button, readying the S30V steel blade for quick action. The button lock style keeps the knife locked open and closed to prevent accidental deployment. The aluminum handle has a texture inlay which secures the grip, while offering a lightweight material.

I want one.

Really .. Buck's making an auto .. too cool !!!

.

I wonder if the traditional Buck quality will be there ??

Who's the manufacturer ??

Does it use a 3/8" or a 1/2" coil spring ??

Is the button / sear pin commonly available ??

Is the button / sear pin and coil spring accessible  i.e. easily replaced ???

.

I'll let them hit the market & view real world results before I decide if I need one or not.

Dale,

To the best of my knowledge they are being made in the USA at the Buck plant.  Waiting for more info to come out on them

Buck Impact Automatic Knife (3.125" Satin)

These folks have them in stock.

Jan,

Thanks for the info !!

It appears .. from viewing pics on the BladeHQ site that Daniel provided .. that threaded fasteners are used throughout. The spring & sear pin / button are accessible.

.

Based on these pics .. the button / sear pin may be proprietary. i.e. it appears larger than what is readily available from standard supply houses.

.

It will be interesting to see .. in hand.

.

Thanks for the link, Dan !!!

Looks so nice.
