Max, yes.  That was a 54 pattern trapper for $30.

BTW, my trapper has left the Lebanon, MO post office and is on its way to the sort facility.

  • Max McGruder

Craig that is a beauty but I keep this in my car console for just in case type stuff,

which is some good 6.5 bone!

Charles that was a steal for that price! I was tempted, cant wait to see your pics though! Plus it has that cool shield!

  • Ken Spielvogel

Max, that is a pretty nice knife for the console. "Just in case" = I like it.

  • Max McGruder

Thanks Ken, I like it for a car EDC! It cuts coupons at the Popeyes drive up or cut the seal off windshield washer solvent.

That's nice Max! I really do like the 6.5 Bone Stag!

I wish I could find a reasonably priced regular edition (not limited edition) 54 in the 6.5.

I'm in the middle of deep thought for what's next on the third Wed. Do you realize how hard deep thought is for me with only one firing brain cell left?

  • Featured

    Charles Sample

Craig, I envy you.  You have one left still firing!

    Craig Henry

    LOL!!!

Yeah, but it misses and sputters like an old jalopy! LOL!

What's the story on Burnt Sugar Bone? I have my eye on a Trapper (what else?) with it. I think I need it bad. I can't get it out of my pea brain. It's going to throw a Monkey Wrench into my plans if I get it. (Can knives throw Monkey Wrenches?)

    Cool!

I purchased a new item recently, which came from the Norton,Kansas area. Not a highly valued knife, because of the pattern, it is none the less rare and valuable to me, as I love all things Case Brothers. This is a Case Bros. ink eraser, unused with traces of blue salesman sample ink on the back of the blade. The handles are tortoise or imitation tortoise, and it came with the original box marked Case Brothers. Cutlery Co. Little Valley N.Y. Because it came from the area, near their cattle and horse ranch, which was also near Beaver Springs, NE. I would like to believe , one of the Case Brothers , themselves, displayed this item to the clerks in the areas businesses! Stay warn it is ten degrees at high noon here.

  • Howard P Reynolds

    A great find, Rick!

  • Max McGruder

Yep that is a cool one! Great find! I've never seen one, so thanks for posting!

  • Rick Hooper

Thanks,Max & Howard it's not a pearl sunfish, but it's a neat find, and displays well with the Case Bros razors, I have.

  • Ken Spielvogel

    Awesome and interesting knives.

I think that is really cool Rick! An old ink eraser like that shows how different times were!

Any thoughts on what might be in the new 2014 catalog?

I emailed them last week bugging them again for a Tiny Trapper in Jigged Chestnut, jigged Amber, and/or Yellow. The reply was "The 2014 catalog will be out in February". Hmmm........

  • Rick Hooper

Thanks for the comments, Ron & Craig!  An interesting fact, about the ink eraser in the old west is: the native American warriors loved them! The white traders could not keep up with the demand for them, as the braves wanted at least a dozen count box at every trade session. Inquiring why, the indian traders discovered the braves, broke the blades loose, from the handles and were using them as steel points on the shafts, instead of the old flint arrowheads! So ink erasers had the distinction of being the first archery broadhead in America!  A role they were never intended for, and a cowboys worst nightmare.

Okay, decision time. A few days until "third Wednesday" knife allowance.

  • Howard P Reynolds

Craig, buy ammo this third Wednesday.  You can throw a knife only so far, and some of us are too old for hand-to-hand fighting.

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

LOL! I think I have plenty of ammo. I think. Every time I watch the news I think I need more ammo! LOL!

And a person can never have too many knives.

You do what you want, Craig.  I got me some more .223 at $.29/rnd. - best price I could find.

If I don't get knives on a regular basis I stop breathing! Doctor says I have knifeosis.

  • Howard P Reynolds

    Sounds worse than ammolosis.

    It is.

Tonight's the night. Still making last minute changes. The voices in my head are fighting it out. I think one of them picked up a stick!

  • Bob Amato

Saw this Case knife at an antiques shop for $85. Not sure if it is worth the price or not. Can anyone identify it? Clue me in as to a fair price to pay?
    Thanks

    Bob

Tony has confirmed that the Wharncliff lockback whittler is the collaboration knife with Case for 2014

  • Howard P Reynolds

Beautiful knife, Jan.  I expect it to be pricey, too.

  • Lee Smith

Jan my wife is going to kill me when I buy one and it's going to be your fault.

  • Paul Work

I'm more interested in the coming Bose teardrop.

  • Max McGruder

Bob, that Sowbelly you posted looks like a fair price, it's hard to see but it looks to be about a 2001 or maybe a little newer depending on the markings on the tang. Can't see if all but one of the X's and dots are there look like only one dot missing, making it a 2001. Not sure what the color would be back then.

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

I hope they do the Teardrop as a "regular" production.

  • Bob Amato

Thanks Max. Maybe I'll head back today and pick it up, after a closer inspection. Looks brand new, in a big tin. Someone else's collectible.
