i have a case saddlehorn i grabbed for a steal!.. i have another older vinatge PARKER saddlehore on its way now!..neat knives but what i would call pocket clunky!...LOL..nice belt sheath would go nice with them.IMO!
I'm in the middle of deep thought for what's next on the third Wed. Do you realize how hard deep thought is for me with only one firing brain cell left?
What's the story on Burnt Sugar Bone? I have my eye on a Trapper (what else?) with it. I think I need it bad. I can't get it out of my pea brain. It's going to throw a Monkey Wrench into my plans if I get it. (Can knives throw Monkey Wrenches?)
I purchased a new item recently, which came from the Norton,Kansas area. Not a highly valued knife, because of the pattern, it is none the less rare and valuable to me, as I love all things Case Brothers. This is a Case Bros. ink eraser, unused with traces of blue salesman sample ink on the back of the blade. The handles are tortoise or imitation tortoise, and it came with the original box marked Case Brothers. Cutlery Co. Little Valley N.Y. Because it came from the area, near their cattle and horse ranch, which was also near Beaver Springs, NE. I would like to believe , one of the Case Brothers , themselves, displayed this item to the clerks in the areas businesses! Stay warn it is ten degrees at high noon here.
Any thoughts on what might be in the new 2014 catalog?
I emailed them last week bugging them again for a Tiny Trapper in Jigged Chestnut, jigged Amber, and/or Yellow. The reply was "The 2014 catalog will be out in February". Hmmm........
Thanks for the comments, Ron & Craig! An interesting fact, about the ink eraser in the old west is: the native American warriors loved them! The white traders could not keep up with the demand for them, as the braves wanted at least a dozen count box at every trade session. Inquiring why, the indian traders discovered the braves, broke the blades loose, from the handles and were using them as steel points on the shafts, instead of the old flint arrowheads! So ink erasers had the distinction of being the first archery broadhead in America! A role they were never intended for, and a cowboys worst nightmare.
Saw this Case knife at an antiques shop for $85. Not sure if it is worth the price or not. Can anyone identify it? Clue me in as to a fair price to pay? Thanks
Bob, that Sowbelly you posted looks like a fair price, it's hard to see but it looks to be about a 2001 or maybe a little newer depending on the markings on the tang. Can't see if all but one of the X's and dots are there look like only one dot missing, making it a 2001. Not sure what the color would be back then.
