Sue, I first saw the information on the Case Collectors Club Forum. Case brought out a set of knives of one each in Burnt Amber Bone.

"In recognition of the 125th Anniversary celebration this year, W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is opening the Case® XX Vault for an incredible opportunity. Five patterns retired to the Vault are not currently scheduled for reintroduction. We are making the final production run Vault Entry knives available for sale."

    Here's a picture of the knives being discontinued;

The one that truly shocks me is the Eisenhower.  I find it hard to believe they would drop this classic pen knife. I guess no one buys it anymore.

There were some over on the Case forum that were a bit upset about the Small Coke Bottle and the Pocket Hunter too.

  • Rhamer Jimenez

    Howdy Case Fans,

I was at hunting camp for a while, and didn't have the drive to tackle email when I got back.

Short story about the Case/Bose Lockback Whittler in 154CM I posted a few pages back.  When I got back from the cabin, I found that I received a "windfall".  So, unexpected money was headed for the Case/Bose Whittler.  But, truck inspection was due beginning now (November), and my tires were not going to pass inspection.  There went my windfall, and on top of that, my old Stihl 031AV chainsaw (from 1979) died.  It needs a couple parts that are no longer available.  The new Sthil chainsaw along with the new pick-up tires have put have put the Case/Bose Whittler way out of reach, for now.

YaaaHoooooo!!!!! Won the latest SHC Drawing and it's to be on the way to me today. Just can't remember what this drawing's knife was. Anyway, I can't say "I never win anything" in the future.....

Congratulations Don!  If I couldn't win it, I'm glad somebody on iKC did!

  • Billy Oneale

    Congratulations, Don.
  • Don "Grump01" Hunter

Thanks Charles. The shipping/tracking email reminded me it's a Magenta Bone Tiny Toothpick.
  • Don "Grump01" Hunter

    Thanks also Billy.

Way to go Don! I sign up for that all the time and never win.

  • Don "Grump01" Hunter

Craig, I didn't think I'D ever get drawn either!  Keep at it and one day it'll be your turn!

Received my winner yesterday, but lost it to the Wifey!!!!!

Details (pattern #'s etc.) can be found at this link:  CASE%20KNIFE%20DISPLAY%201%20DETAILS.doc Sorry to be posting this same photo again, but I'm trying to figure out how to get the "text details" (i.e. the "caption" or "legend") about the knives in the display to fit within the 4K character restraints. Per Jan, I'm going to try the "attachment option" and see if the Word Doc with the display details in it will fit.

  • Jon Salmon

Well, the link to the caption seems to work IF you have MS-Word on your computer. BTW, I should mention that this is NOT a complete collection of the Navy Bone w/ Red Shield patterns from Case. I know it is missing at least the Small Saddlehorn.  Interestingly, I confirmed with Case that they NEVER made a Peanut pattern in this series ! Seems like that might be a smart SFO project for some enterprising person (I wonder if you could get Case to make the SFO EXCLUSIVE !!)

Very nice Jon! I always liked the red shield with the blue bone!

  • Gerald Hines

They made a Blue Bone Peanut, for their new Members in 2010, I can't remember if it had a red shield though.

  • Jon Salmon

Hey Mr. Hines - There happens to be one of the 2010 CCC Blue Bone Peanuts for sale on Ebay right now, and it does not have the red shield - it has the Case Collectors Club shield in steel grey.  I haven't been able to locate the email I received back from Case when I inquired about whether or not they ever made the Peanut pattern in the Navy Blue Bone / Red Shield configuration - I just remember that the answer from Case was a definitive "No" - but I'd have to guess it was about 12-18 months ago.  I suppose it is possible that they have made them since then, but I've never seen them in either the SHC or SMKW catalogs. Cheers - Jon

  • Jon Salmon

Actually just located the email from Case Customer Relations confirming that they had never made the Peanut pattern in the Navy Blue Bone w/ Red Shield - it was dated 7/16/2013.

  • Gerald Hines

Yeah I couldn't remember which shield it had.

  • Howard P Reynolds

    Don Grump01,

Glad that I sorta know someone who actually won a S.H. lottery.  Sad to know you hardly had a chance to hold it in your hand before you had to give it up.

A new Trapper. That's right, I said Trapper, not Peanut. LOL!

    http://iknifecollector.com/group/casefans/forum/topics/54-pattern-s...

  • Jon Salmon

First, I want to thank everyone in this group who has helped me along the way in my Case XX knife collecting - the level of knowledge and experience of many of the members in this group reminds me of the "Genius Counter" at the Apple store (only better!!). This question will probably be an easy one for some here - in the realm of the Case "Clasp Knife" I have come across 2 patterns : the 5172 and the 6172.  Some are called "The Buffalo", others "The Bulldog", still others "Case Classics Clasp", but I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to which pattern numbers are associated with the various names. As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks is advance. - Jon

  • Gerald Hines

    5172 should be Stag

    6172 should be bone

  • Jon Salmon

Thanks very much Mr. Hines - any ideas about the various names, "Bulldog", "Buffalo", "Clasp"? Are they the same knife pattern with different blade etchings? Thanks again for the help. Best - Jon
