Schrade Collectors
Many people collected Schrade knives over the years. Almost everyone had to have a Schrade. Much has changed, but they still make Schrade Knives and now they are coming out with new steels and new handle materials.
So old fan or new collector, Lets talk about Schrade!

I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a counter display of U.S.A. made Schrade knives. The display was almost complete only two knives missing and both were the same pattern the scissors knife a 707 UH & 106 OT. All the knives are mint and most boxes are with it.

Harvey, not sure I have any 106s or 707s left, but will look when I get time.

Harvey, if Ron has them. Buy them, they will probably be the most immaculate knives in that case if you do.

Sorry, all I can find is the Ducks Unlimited versions of the 106 and 707.

Thanks Brad, what handle material do you think it has???

Ken,
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. That handle material is most likely Delrin, whether it is smooth or saw cut it is still nearly indestructible.

156ot Lil' Finger sold on eBay over the weekend for $72.00!! It didn't even have the original sheath. I paid 1/3 that amount for mine. It is a wonderful Lil' knife, but not for $72.

Thanx Steve, I wish it was cleaner, but I really like the age on this one. It wasn't really meant to be "Pretty"
The spring and actions are very smooth and crisp, and the blade is SUPER sharp.
I also have the Orange "Nam" one, also Schrade in Very Clean Condition. Maybe I'll put some shots of It too!
I like automatics a lot but you have to be careful of State Laws "Big Brother" Even though I have a Concealed Weapons Permit, IT's still a problem

Looking at a schrade ixl stockman on Ebay. Are these good knives ? This is a stockman with brown bone handles, looks to be near mint condition. The add says it is from 1987. Are these hard to find ?

I picked up this Near-Mint Schrade Heritage jumbo whittler on eBay last week. It's replacing a similar piece in the display case that was in much lower grade condition.

Knife collecting can be confusing sometimes. I bought a knife on Ebay and the next day a knife in the same condition as the one I bought went for half the price. Anyone experience this or have advice.

Just got a Schrade IXL stockman. The add said it was from 1987, but after doing some checking, it is actually from 1981. The knife looks brand new. Will post some pics soon.

Ken , from what I have read on these, the numbers on the other bolster tell the date. The characters are SW and I cannot make out what the third one is, but the fourth character is a number and is supposed to be the last digit of the year. Yours would be 1980. On the schrade collectors site, there is a nice brochure about these knives under IXL. Let me know if you can't find it.

Glad you were able to get that knife, That was a good price, I think it slipped under the radar . I did not know if it was a good idea or not to say something about an ebay item on here, would it be good to say something again in the future if I see a good deal on a knife ? I looked later and someone had another knife like these listed as a buy it now for $ 89.

Yes, I think it was a good idea, it tipped me off and I got a good buy, and I thank you for it. So nothing wrong with that.

Good article Craig, it looks to be from the one I saw on the Schrade collectors site. I thought his was from 1980, thanks for confirming it. The one I got is from 1981.

Here is a set of Schrade knives that I am extremely proud to own, since it is a tribute to WW II and I am a Veteran (not of WW II) as well. In addition this set was given to my Step-Dad as a gift from Schrade.
World War II Tribute, 7 Knife Set
US Army- D-Day Invasion
US Navy- Battle of Midway
US Army Air Force- Bombing of Germany
US Marine Corps- Iwo Jima US Coast Guard- Amphibious Landings
US Merchant Marines- Murmanski Run
Pearl Harbor Bowie
This set was produced in 1991 with only 500 sets being produced. There were 1000 Pearl Harbor Bowies produced. Multiple sets were given to Schrade Employees and "DOC", my Step Dad received his as a gift. He worked for Schrade for 40+ years and retired in 2001. In fact my Schrade Room is dedicated in Memory of him and I even had Custom Signs made to commemorate him as well as Schrade Walden and Schrade Cutlery. I will post a picture of the set in my photos for your review!
