  • Sue OldsWidow

So is there a Tuna Valley Cutlery factory or are you still in transition and jobbing out the knives for manufacture at this time? and who are makeing them for you?

maybe i missed that info , if so sorry for the repeat ?

  • Sue OldsWidow

ok, now i found it Great eastern cutlery ,titusville Pa. is making the knive's for you...it was a big as a barn on the logo sign on the site....sorry

  • Jan Carter

    Sue,

Great Eastern will indeed be one of the companies producing for the Daniels Family Tuna Valley Line.  It is my understanding that a few more USA materials and USA companies will be involved also

    HMMM, suspicious.

I look forward to whatever may be behind the curtain.

  • Sue OldsWidow

Sounds intriguing doesnt it...a grab bag...a pig in a poke...knife jewelry..hummm....hope it is exotic !

  • Alexander Noot

I do like the looks of that lockback. However having only just gotten my #72 GEC iKC knife I'll pass on this one. It's just too similar. I'm looking forward to seeing other knives by you guys though. Looks like you're using prima materials!

  • Jan Carter

    Alexander,

In speaking with Ryan, the Prima materials will be a focus point for TVCC.  If you could choose one handle material what would it be?

  • KnifeMaker

    Aaron Christopher White

very nice, Dad is enjoying his spearpoint lockback, wanted to tell ya Tom Peterson (my Dad ) told me about your knives so put his name in again to win one

  • Jan Carter

    Aaron and Velma,

Thank you so much for joining us.  And please, both of you, thank Tom Peterson.  I know he is an avid collector and I am envious on many days of his wonderful collection

I have heard that TVC may have some knives made by other manufacturers besides GEC. Has anyone heard by whom or what kind? I may be jumping the gun by asking this right now.

  • Steve Howard

Jan :)  Thank you for the link to Daniels family knives. I have saved it. Very excited to see what they come up with.

  • Alexander Noot

Jan, I'm not sure what other materials I'd like. That stag does look gorgeous though.

I have to admit though that I'm not a very big knife buyer. I love knives but I rarely buy them. I don't know what it'd take for me to get one. As for what other materials.....ivory? Mammoth ivory? MOP? Abalone? Maybe some stone types?

  • Alexander Noot

Jan, I just thought of another type of material that wouldbe very good, stabilised burl and spalted woods. Currently those are only available on custom knives but they offer the beauty of natural woods and the stability of plastics. In short the best of bith worlds.

    Robert Burris

They need only 10 more members to join to reach their goal 100. Good Luck, Daniels Family!

  • Tom Peterson

How about musk ox for handle material? Gold lip pearl? I like the stabilized wood idea of Alexanders as well as the mammoth ivory.

  • Tom Peterson

Jan, you are just too nice! Thanks for your kind words. I have often envied your & Donnie's collection too - all of those primitive bones and Beavertails!

  • Tom Peterson

    Ryan,

This has got to be the fastest growing group on iKC! Congratulations!!!

  • Jan Carter

    Steve,

Certainly a pleasure.  I check there often myself

    Tom,

    Musk Ox, great idea

    Alexander,

I am a wood person myself and I really love the Burls.  You will truly appreciate the material I am using for my own first knife.  I will put my pieces on the beginners group tomorrow

  • Alexander Noot

Jan, I'm looking forward to seeing that. I think there are very few things as good looking as a nice piece of wood.

Hey everyone sorry havn't had anything new on here for a week or so. I just got back from National Gun Day in Louisville, KY and saw some great friends. I want to welcome all the new members of the group you will find that we are all family here and I would love to meet every single one of you in person. If you didn't know my family doesn't just do business on here and our website. We have a very full schedule of shows all year which is posted on the website if you see one close to you send me a message and I'll look for you at the show. Also this week I will be opening two new tabs on the website. The first will be a tab for my wife, Courtney Daniels, which lists several knives on eBay weekly and also takes care of our Antique/Discontinued knife department you can get a hold of her through e-mail. I will be posting her stuff on the website each week as we get it rolling. Second is a new tab for myself I do sell handmade and art knives at the shows and will start listing them on the website so please check for updates.

WE NEED 10 MORE MEMBERS SO I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU WHAT YOU'LL WIN GO TELL ANYONE YOU KNOW!!

  • Clint Thompson

    Ryan...

Nice knife.  Great to hear from you.

  • Alexander Noot

Ryan, that is a stunning looking knife. Good luck to all (but most to me I hope ;-))

  • Kent

Looks stunning.  Good luck to all!

  • Tom Peterson

    Hi Ryan,

I know that you are a busy guy with lots of knife shows, getting Tuna Valley Cutlery up and running and the like  but you need to put a more impressive graphic for this group to attract even more members my friend. The label off of the Tuna Valley Amber Stag tube or a picture of the Amber Stag lockback itself would do just fine (unless you have something even more impressive and exciting in the works). When you see the Daniels Family Knives group graphic next to all of the others it looks kind of tiny & it's hard to tell what it is. I know that it may not be Priority #1 right now but the current graphic on iKC comes up short for such a promising company that will be making some of the best knives out there! Just giving you grief Ryan. I can't wait to see the awesome knives that will be coming from you all at Daniels Family Knives and Tuna Valley Cutlery!!!

  • Dana Mayo

Hi Tom, Thanks for the tip. I'd like to get some opinions about this Northfield #36 Stag that I just received. The handles are very different shades. What do you think?Dark%20Front.JPG  Light%20back.JPG

  • Tom Peterson

    Dana,

Welcome to the Daniels Family Knives group! I think that your GEC stag #36 is very nice! One side might have got burnt a bit more than the other IMO. Still is a handsome knife! Thanks for posting pics.

  • Dana Mayo

What do you think guys? Nice or mismatched

  • Tom Peterson

    Dana,

    There you go!

  • Tom Peterson

I'm a little curious as to whywe  haven't reached 100 members yet? I have invited several folks - at least a half a dozen that don't show up as members. They have told me that they have tried to join but were waiting on approval. I'm thinking that they are waiting on approval to join iKC first and then approval to be a Daniels Family Knives group member. Could today be the big day??!!! Pretty exciting!!!

  • Dana Mayo

I wish I could join twice!

  • Trand

Tom, I had to be approved too before I could join. I initially left 2 fields with very little info which was an issue. Perhaps they need to revisit their profiles before going through?

  • Seth King

I was member 99 so surely someone else will join today. Good luck to everybody!
  • Steve Howard

Hi Guys. I think I screwed up the count. I tried to leave a comment and it said I had to be a member first (?) I thought I was number 90. Yikes.

Just wanted to let you know I was not trying to pump up the number.

  • Jan Carter

    Thomas,

Great to meet you and thank you for introducing yourself we appreciate it

    Robert Burris

Well Thomas, It's good to get to know you and please let us know when you get that Web site up and running. Good luck with your buisiness.

Hey everyone I hope all is well. I'm getting ready for the Dale Warther Memorial Knife show in Dover, OH. Is any one going? Thank you everyone for making my good friend Tom Triplett feel at home. If you would like to meet him he will be setting up at the Ashland, KY show and he will have lots of knives. He is a little fresh but has grown a lot in the last few months and I think you'll find him very honest and trustworthy. One thing Tom will be handling is trades. We have a lot of GEC's in stock and we want to trade them so if there is a GEC you been wanting and you have a knife you want to trade contact Tom he'll take care of you. Thanks again everyone for joining we will be posting the winner of the contest next Tuesday and being everyone did so much to make this happen I do have a few constellation prizes so make sure to check back in on Tuesday Night around 8-9 p.m

  • Jan Carter

The Daniels family have CLASS like you very seldom see. They have given both of my girls a knife last year at the Lewisburg PA show and as always great deals from Ryan at the Dover Oh show last week . Oh and a free knife for my nephew at the Lehigh Pa show last year. These are not fifty cent knives we are talking hundred dollar plus knives. You guys have my business for life.  Thanks from my family   Dennis  bigden

    Ryan Daniels

hey everyone im having a little bit of diffculty with the website trying to add new features and its taken me all day and I've got no where. Please bear with me becasue I have been bringing together several new knife projects that I think everyone is going to love. I will be getting more interavtive stuff on there. I'm also going to start having lots of video of my travels and put it on here so like I said please bear with me.

  • Jan Carter

    Dennis,

I have to tell you I am not surprised.  Dealing with the Daniels Family over the years has been a pure delight.  When this family says the future of knife collecting rests on our engaging the younger generations, they not only mean it but they DO IT.  Thanks for the reminder.

  • Robert G. Mitchell

Hey Ryan if you are having problems with your website setup let me know, and I can probably take care of it, or help you figure it out. Let me know if you could use some help and we'll talk.

  • Jan Carter

    Hey RYAN/p>

Can we get a target date for the burnt stag release please?
