The knife is looking nice I think all the collaborations that had Buck made are a Win for the average user or knife collector. They chosen nice time proven materials the steel choice for a utility blade is outstanding it is nice has good corrosion resistance decent edge retention and was and is used by many custom knife makers even spyderco did used this steel on they higher end models back in the day before the powder and super-steels came. I think this knife is definitely worth the money and will not let you down but be aware of fakes buck is targeted by China OEM knife producers because it is a widely known brand that offers affordable knives.
Buck has for a long time made military knives thru contacts with the military (bayonets) . But never made them for consumer retail. I think Buck getting into the military/combat/tactical/survival knives is a really good thing. And winning Best of the Best award from Field & Stream just shows that they are on the right track and much more goodies to come in the future.
I just got the TravelMate Kit. Seems cool. I haven't used it yet. Hope to find a good use/reason to use it soon so I can put it to work. Seems like it would be a great camping utensil. Although the plastic sheath does Not attach to a belt. That would be the one thing I would recommend they change. I see it is now again currently not available. So I just got mine in time. :)
Buck Knives is now having their 40% Off Christmas Sale on ANY knife. Use code GIFT2012 at checkout. Order before December 12th to receive them before Christmas. Also FREE ground shipping by UPS is your order is over $50 (USA only).
I don't know what I did wrong here but this knife has what appears to be a minuteman or a Revolutionary War figure on the handle any ideas? Has x on blade.
But if you get a Hoodlum you have to get a Punk and if you get a Hoodlum and Punk you have to get a Thug . . . and then you sort of have to get a Reaper too.
Data, you have a good point. I want them all, but I probably won't get them all. I also want the Bantam's with the new camo handles. At least they are more affordable.
That code really works. 40% is a huge saving! I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I just may get a custom 110 that I've wanted for a while? I'll have to sleep on it.
I have to say I am beginning to really like the new Buck Sentry. They seem to be going after the SOG Seal Pup market with this one. Hopefully they will come out with a non-serrated version soon.
I haven't kept up with Buck knives for years (I used to collect them MANY years ago), but I came across this fixed blade based on the 112. I think it's very cool!
I just recently became a member and it was when I was looking for a custom Ranger I thumbled over this side. A while ago I bought my first Ranger after a lot of reading and comparing. It's a standard 112, the only one you can find here in Sweden:'(. But I'm allready in love with it! In my opinion its the perfekt folder. The look, the weightand the overall quality! I, m now looking for a custom. I would like one with nickelsilver bolsters, stagplates and a customblade. I hoped to be able to order one at the customshop but it seems like they dont take any orders. Does anyone know how it works or is there any other way to get my perfect knife? Take care out there!

I had both the Kalinga and Akonua when I was collecting Buck knives around 27 years ago. They're both beautiful knives!

Yes they are both nice. The Kalinga feels the best in my hand. Both are substantial knives.

Thorvan, the X indicates your knife was made in 1990. Not sure about the handle pic. I will have to investigate it more when I have time.

James, nice 110. The upside-down T means it was made in 2004, the last year they were made in El Cajon, CA before moving to Post Falls, ID.
