Bill, I'm at a knife factory. We have the capacity to make 12000 knives in a 8 hour shift, but not quite the quality of the 6 that you make. Making 6 handmade knives in 16 hours takes some doing in my books.
OK. stop this bragging now...face the fact that none of you are going to get to 5000+ knives, from raw material to finished product, in one day, or even one year. So stop the whining and show us some of your creations, and I hight show you what we make........
Well, I just checked my personal email..there was an email from Blade mag...and this month's featured maker is none other than our own PAUL J. GRANGER ! How 'bout them apples sportsfans...
Well..................I went and did it. I started messing around with folders (as if I needed another distraction). This is #2 and it only has about five problems I need to work out!
If there is a folder maker out there that wouldn't mind me emailing them for a few tips please contact me. I really enjoy making these slippies.
My latest project. 9 inch knife with 4 inch blade made of 440c Us staleness steel. Features buffalo horn with both red & black micarta spacers & brass pins. Mirror polished.
Just finished my latest creation. I made everything myself except for the blade, which was pre-manufactured. The handle is Pacific Coast Myrtlewood, which I had never worked with before, and I'm a little disappointed in the color variations. (For some unknown reason, staining it with a walnut stain resulted in parts of it looking "dirty.") Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with the whole thing.Hope you like it!
T.A., thanks for the critique and advice about the light box for photos and making my own blades. Regarding my knife's size, the blade is 6-1/2 inches long and the overall length is 11-1/4 inches.
Your knife is a beaut'. As is the sheath. I'm sure your friend will treasure them.
Just finished this knife and have 8 more just like it to make for a customer. Giving them to his hunting buddies. Now thats a good hunting buddy! IMG_0801.JPG
Heres one Im pretty proud of, Im not a BIG Bowie guy and dont make many of them. This one was a customer request. and he sent me a drawing. The blade is High Carbon san mai. O-1 Core with damascus cladding. We forged the blade and hardware. Guard is 1080 and nickle as is the butt cap. Handle is a frame construction with mammoth ivory and stainless steel. :)

Terry, the knife looks pretty good. You need to build you a light box for photos.
That way you can take your photos with out a flash? A appreciate you showing
the knife though. You should make your own blades, not that bad to learn? Look forward to seeing more of your work. What size was this one?
Here is one I just made --- does size matter? It's going to a friend for his B day.
