I'll be adding a History section here to tell the tale of Blackjack Knives, but I want to find as much info as I can, sort through it, organise it and post it. I do not want to just copy/paste what is out there. I think this group, Blackjack and Mr Stewart all deserve a unique amalgamation of the history, rather than recycled info that may or may not be based in fact. With that in mind, I hope to present Mike Stewart with what I come up with, and hopefully get his approval before I post.
I love your Blackmoor Dirk, and the Wasp! And yes, the Blue Devil is a Blackjack. Made in Effingham IL in 1991. I have one myself. Thanks for showing them off!
THANK YOU MANX for starting up gthis group. i have always loved the look of blackjacks and the feel but yet know enough to feel comfortable to collect them or even buy one..thanx for having me. im here to learn!..i see so many prices ..and so forth...i gotta read up on the historyof the company.. again thank you so much!
manx ..i just saw your first post and look very much forawrd to it..the write up and all.. i and fining the same information over and over..if i find anything older out their in PAPER ..i dont know if you collect paper at all.. but i will begtin a small hunt for old balck jakc catalogs or paperwork etctect... THANX AGAIN..
Blackjack?? Never heard of them...HAHA...sorry...anyway...after picking my jaw up off the floor where it had dropped to, unbeknownst to me, I started to open the box. I'll admit, fingers were kinda shakey! Pretty excited! And to my utter amazement, I behold this! A Blackjack I never even knew existed! Drumroll please!!! ( Hog, that's your cue! Drumroll away!! )
A Blackjack Tactical Pen!!! Holy Crap!! And what does it say right on it?? You guessed it!
If you'd have thrown me in the creek right then, you'd have been skimming Stunned for a week! I honestly couldn't believe it!
So, of course, I had to go change into a more appropriate article of clothing to accentuate my newest treasure! ( Okay...I put on a shirt with a pocket...sheesh...) and now I shall flaunt it the rest of the day through!
So...THANK YOU, Jan! I truly appreciate the wonderful, unexpected gift, and rest assured, that pen will be my undisputed EDC for many weeks to come!
So, there I was, sitting in the Chat Room (I know, right?? Who'd a thunk it??) and somehow the topic in the room gets around to packages in the mail and whatnot. Just at that moment, my kid heads up to the mailbox to check what's there. Jan asks me if I've received anything yet. I figured she meant the knife sharpener that I am waiting very patiently for. (Ya right!! HURRY UP!!) "Nope", says I...must still be stuck in that magic place between countries that I believe lies somewhere under Chicago. Deep under...then Jan asks if I got anything from her. Nope as well...I didn't think I should be waiting for anything else. Enter kid...
"Nothing for you, Dad...just stuff for Mom."
Silly me, I believe him. Sooo...as I am up grabbing a coffee, I happen to double check...lo and behold, the name on it is mine, not the wife's! (Says alot for my kid's education, huh??) so I wander to the couch and am looking at this..
Well now. A day with a surprise parcel is almost always a good one, right?? Sooo...after fetching my ZT0300 Parcel Removal and Extraction Tool (PRAET...gonna copyright that) I got to work. What I wasn't expecting was this...
To Be Continued...says I am over 4000 characters. ??
Since someone "tried" to sharpen my Wasp and completely messed it up, I am slowly re-profiling mine (ouch) to make it a usable edge once again, and since that will pretty much kill the collector value, I guess I will have a very expensive boot knife. LOL.
