I received my notice yesterday and just glanced at it. Talk about your snail mail. Or maybe it was oops , maybe no one will notice that we forgot to mail this in time.

  • Paul Wright

Just joined this site, and it looks great!

One question I can ask off the bat. Does anyone have any info about a Case IV254 D knife? I'm trying to find out if it does have real ivory handles. Both blades are made of damascus steel. Also, there is no Case shield on the handle. Will post some pics as soon as I can get a hold of a camera at home.

  • Clint Thompson

    Paul...

If the knife is a Case Trapper and has two different blade material types, the scales or handles are mastodon ivory.  I believe they were made around 1998 with 500 made.

  • Paul Wright

This one has both blades made of the same type of steel, damascus.

This was posted today on the Case forum.

    Hi Everyone,

The order form you received is a reminder form incase you forgot to place your order. We have extended the deadline, so if you are interested, you can still order them online, or give Marcy a call at (888) 445-6433.

    Thanks!

    Paul,

Is there a blade etch?  I also know of the 1998 with one Damascus and one Stainless.  It is indeed mastodon ivory but I am not aware of one with both blades being damascus so I cant wait to see the pics.

    Gerald,

Thanks for adding that.  I think we were all wondering if we had missed something LOL

  • Gerald Hines

Paul after some research I found your knife and it is Elephant Ivory.

  • Paul Wright

    Thanks for the info!

@Jan Carter - no, there wasn't any blade etches. There wasn't any markings, other than the tang stamps.

Sorry, things have been kinda busy on this side. Will try to get those pics up as soon as I can. Take care, all!

Finally got some pics of my IV254 D.IMG_1977.JPG

Also posted some pics of my Case XX Bulldog. As you can probably tell, I'm new to taking photos of knives. Any pointers??

Paul, The pics come out pretty good.  I do best in outdoor lighting just before the sun sets so I dont have to use a flash.  The natural lighting works best for me

    James,

    SWEET!!!

  • Billy Oneale

    Nice group, James.

  • Paul Wright

Jan, will give that a try. Thanks!

  • Jan Carter

    Paul,

    Gerald,

So it appears that the knife in question does indeed have an ivory handle. I emailed Case about it, and they got back to me with the info. This was offered to CCC members in 1992. Only 174 were produced. :-))

  • Jan Carter

    That is awesome Paul!

  • Tobias Gibson

Regretfully, I'll be driving home from work at that time.  Sounds like a great chat!

  • Jan Carter

    Jan....

Well it is the first I have heard of this. I know Joe Bass and Josh Davall his head knife wrangler.  They have a huge Case selection with many other brands such as Moore Maker.  They are located in "Packing Town" which is a portion of OKC on the west side where cattle are sold and bought.  Lots of western wear and other cool stores.  Cattleman's Steak House is one of the finest in the country is there as well.  I'm telling you if you have their $20 steak you will judge all other steaks by theirs.

If I am not up to my eyeballs in something else I will show up and see what there is to see. Thanks Jan.

  • Clint Thompson

Well coincidentally....Fred from Case called me just now and we talked about this event and other things in the Case World. Case is sending a couple of reps who will clean and sharpen your old Case knives if you bring them in. They also will be selling some signature designer knives and some limited addition knives as well.  O-yea.  If I am not packing my rut-sack I will be there.

  • Paul Wright

Wish I was around for this!

  • Clint Thompson

    Paul...

It will be cool. Fred said they do about 25 a year.  Go to their web site at: http://www.wrcase.com/happenings/events/

Any one want to meet up for Dinner on Friday nite ?? Maybe do a R/T ??

Well need someone to find a place .

  • Jan Carter

Hey thanks Gerald, I will head there now

  • Jan Carter

    Gerald,

Sure wish you could meet us there, that would be some fun.  We work that show for Paul Harvey every year.  Its a family owned hardware store, been Case dealers over 50 years. If you have never been...its alot of fun

  • Gerald Hines

Jan it's a little far for us this year maybe next year. I've met Paul at the events at Bradford. That was the show for this year.

  • Donald Walker

Ill be out there again this year. I look forward to seeing you and Donnie aagin.

  • Jan Carter

OH, Donald that is fantastic!  Cant wait to see you

  • Jan Carter

The Case folks will be Mike DuBois and Ricky Deitz this year.  Harveys Hardware will also Host Tony Foster at the show :)

  • Jan Carter

Just talked to Paul Harvey and he will have a scout person again this year to teach knife safety to the young ones.  Bring them with you.  We have games and knowledge built for them also.

One of the reasons I love this show is it is designed around the family having fun

  • Jan Carter

Every year there is the Case tour knives and Harvey's Hardware does their own.  This year Harvey's is doing two knives

Are those the same ones in the other picture? I still like that Jack. And the Trapper, but mostly the Jack.

  • Jan Carter

They are the same ones.  I wanted to get some natural lighting and see if I could get the blade etches to show
