IvarsDay, I agree with you, I haven't either, looking forward to hearing what our Case experts have to say about this knife.

I would have to say it's a phony. In that time period Case used pinned shields and I can't find anywhere that in that period they stamped pattern numbers on their knives. The 028 pattern is called a serpentine dogleg jack.

From AAPK,  Pattern 028:

Case has manufactured at least two distinct knives with this pattern number.

* The company's most recent version is a 3 1/2" serpentine style jack knife. Most have a clip and pen blade, and a 1/2 after the pattern number (when there is a pattern number). Some versions have been produced with a punch blade.Case discontinued them sometime before 1964.

*The other 028 pattern is a teardrop style jack knife that was manufactured with a spear and clip blade. I'm not sure of the exact size, but they are considerably smaller than the other 028 pattern described above.

I am waiting on my Buffalo Horn trapper to show up. Oh, and an Elvis modified Trapper I sent down south.

Looks like the red bone SBJ is hitting the dealers.  Gonna call 'em up next days off and make sure they got them in.

I have a dead pumpkin on the way. Never really liked holiday knives then I got to thinking maybe if I just made a display up of all the holidays that it would be ok.  lol

I've never been into holiday knives either. But I've seen a few I've been tempted to get. I think the Halloween ones are really cute.
