I know they are snowed in pretty bad up there Craig. Greg is one of the dealers I cant honestly say, order and business days later it is in your hand. I know the weather is frustrating him and mail. Going to be a whopping 1 degree tomorrow but looks like snow is out of the pic on Sun and Mon....Maybe those postal folks can get the planes out...WHAT DID YOU GET?
I bought three Case Trappers. I talked to Greg today, and he said he's really frustrated with USPS. It took two weeks for a customer to get his order in Georgia! Greg has comments on his blog about it.
The Mules on the Knife Mule Train fell down on the job, so the Reindeer had to fill in! But they're finally here! I dressed up like Santa and gave these to myself. I left myself some cookies and milk.
Anybody know what blade steel Case uses on their "Case Select" series? Is it the same "Tru-Sharp" stainless they use on their standard knives, or something a bit more exotic? Thanks - Jon Salmon
I think the "upgrade" is only nickel silver liners and pins; maybe better matched scale color. Same blade steel as regular Case knives.
Wikipedia:
Nickel silver, German silver,[1]Argentan,[1]new silver,[1]nickel brass,[2]albata,[3]alpacca,[4] or electrum[5] is a copperalloy with nickel and often zinc. The usual formulation is 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc.[6] Nickel silver is named for its silvery appearance, but it contains no elemental silver unless plated. The name "German silver" refers to its development by 19th-century German metalworkers in imitation of the Chinese alloy known as paktong (cupronickel)[7][8] All modern, commercially important nickel silvers (such as those standardized under ASTM B122) contain significant amounts of zinc, and are sometimes considered a subset of brass.[9]
No sure about the "XX "on the bolster version but this one of mine is a Case- #B'D254SS- Bois D' Arc (Osage Orange) trapper with 1991 year dated tang stamp-SFO for Crawford & Wilson Enterprises in Plano,Texas- 1 of 250
Very nice Trapper collection. Agreed, you don't have too many - you need more. The jigged bone on the bottom Butterbean is "Blue Lagoon". Happy New Year, Craig and all the Case Fans!
