Many people collected Schrade knives over the years. Almost everyone had to have a Schrade. Much has changed, but they still make Schrade Knives and now they are coming out with new steels and new handle materials.
So old fan or new collector, Lets talk about Schrade!

You know, if the new Taylor-Schrades had carbon steel, especially on the Old Timers, I MIGHT try one. It just doesn't seem right.....an Old Timer with stainless blades. Sheesh.

Craig,
I often wondered why some of the folks that take these old names change the steel type. Is it a cost factor?

I think, there's a feeling that everyone wants stainless blades. I don't know. If anyone reads various threads on other forums you can see a rather large move towards carbon steel. But then again there are ones that say they won't touch the stuff (like I used to say! LOL!).
If it was up to me I'd say keep the knives the way they were always made. Standard Schrades - carbon steel. Old Timers - carbon steel. Uncle Henrys - stainless.

I agree but I also think it would be nice if they would offer both.

Schrade always used to do just that - Old Timer for the carbon steel folks, and Uncle Henrys for the stainless folks. Now Taylor messed the whole thing up! LOL!

Just purchased from Ron James a 3OT, 6OT, LB5, 897UH, 34OT, 8OT & XT1B. I am rather excited to be receiving these knives. I will post pictures when they arrive.

I'll be very anxious to see them Brad! You're going to make me want some good old Schrades again! LOL!

Ron James apparently doesn't carry, because 6 out of 6 knives I bought from him were Mint in Box. Even the 3OT "second" he gave me is in near mint condition.
As you can see below they are all in un-used condition, with the factory edge still razor sharp. With the exception of the X-Timer which was perfect until I decided to see how far down the knife would cut through a double layer of 200 lb test Corrugated, with arm dropping force. 16". 36" if I power into it, but all that scarred of the black finish on both sides of the knife. I had planned on removing the finish and handle anyway.

I can't believe some of the prices the common everyday delrin handled Schrades are going for today! I guess Schrade going out of business was good for the collectors (sellers)! LOL!

Schrade Horizontal sheath I bought on eBay. Fantastic! Now I can carry a slipjoint knife without the knife floating around my pocket. The knife pictured in the sheath is my Schrade Butter & Molasses 896K Medium Stockman (3-1/2" Closed)

I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a counter display of U.S.A. made Schrade knives. The display was almost complete only two knives missing and both were the same pattern the scissors knife a 707 UH & 106 OT. All the knives are mint and most boxes are with it.

Harvey, not sure I have any 106s or 707s left, but will look when I get time.

Harvey, if Ron has them. Buy them, they will probably be the most immaculate knives in that case if you do.

Ken,
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. That handle material is most likely Delrin, whether it is smooth or saw cut it is still nearly indestructible.

156ot Lil' Finger sold on eBay over the weekend for $72.00!! It didn't even have the original sheath. I paid 1/3 that amount for mine. It is a wonderful Lil' knife, but not for $72.

Thanx Steve, I wish it was cleaner, but I really like the age on this one. It wasn't really meant to be "Pretty"
The spring and actions are very smooth and crisp, and the blade is SUPER sharp.
I also have the Orange "Nam" one, also Schrade in Very Clean Condition. Maybe I'll put some shots of It too!
I like automatics a lot but you have to be careful of State Laws "Big Brother" Even though I have a Concealed Weapons Permit, IT's still a problem

Looking at a schrade ixl stockman on Ebay. Are these good knives ? This is a stockman with brown bone handles, looks to be near mint condition. The add says it is from 1987. Are these hard to find ?

I picked up this Near-Mint Schrade Heritage jumbo whittler on eBay last week. It's replacing a similar piece in the display case that was in much lower grade condition.
