Another question for AG collectors how does the serial number effect the value of these knives.  I understand that 1-25 is premium knives but how valuable do you concider a 001 serial number would be?

The Premier Grade for CM-1 and CM-2 was 1 - 12  14k gold bolsters and inlay. fFor CM-3 - CM-8 Premier grade was 1 -24 and again bolsters and inlays were 14k Gold.  CM-9 the handles were Sterling Silver and the inlay was 14k Gold, after that the Premier Grade just had fancyier engraving and blade etching until the 35th Anniversary knife with 1-25 and 14k gold bolsters and inlay.

Excelsiour Grade had engraved bolsters  and begining with CM-3 and FH-1 began with serial number 235 to 100.

The last line below should read 25 to 100

Well I'm excited! I found a Bicentennial knife through e-bay and I'm the winning bidder. Now I know that this is a fairly pricey knife. But I'm lucky enough to get it WAY below selling price. (Wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise)

So sometime next week I should be getting a new A.G. Russell.

So what is it about A.G. Russell knives that makes E-bay sellers only willing to ship in the USA?

Almost every Russell Auction that I see on the bay has the "US shipping only" comment.

It isn't something about A.G. Russell knives ... it is about knives in general: a lot of ebay sellers won't ship outside the U.S. (either due to perceived legal risk and/or difficulty/not being sure how to do it).

I'd see if you can get the seller to ship to one of your friends in the U.S.; then, have your friend ship it to you.

I'd hate to see you loose the purchase of the knife just because the seller doesn't want to ship outside the U.S..

(Tip for future ebay bidding: always look at what the seller says in the listing about shipping outside the U.S. before bidding).

I can find my way around it no problem. I have a lot of friends in the US that will help me out no problem.

One of the pieces I'm most interested in. The seller claimed to KNOW that locking knives are illegal outside of the US (They're not in most places) and that the legal limit to a non locking blade was 2,5" in Brittain (it's not it's 3" and no limit on type of knife or length if you have a legally valid reason to carry one such as camping/working in the yard etc). This he knew because he'd travelled to Europe once and had been a police officer for 40 years.

I told him he was misstaken and that at least in my country there was no such limit on either locking blade or length like that. (I didn't bother with the other misinformation since he didn't seem open to it) and that I'd really like that knife of his.

He told me he'd ship to me since I promised him it wasn't against the law here.

It just bothers me sometimes. Some americans seem to think that anything in Europe is some kind of Orwellian 1984 type state where nothing is allowed.

Seems like a chat discussion my brother had with an american girl once (she wasn't very bright) where he convinced her that we have no electricity  in Europe.....WHILE HE WAS CHATTING WITH HER ON THE INTERNET!!!

Same thing on lots of forums. People always state "Continental US only".

I'll tell you...I'd have spent a lot more money on knives if that weren't the case....probably good for me that they do that then.

Luckily A.G. doesn't have a problem shipping to me :-)

My A.G. Russell 2009 Texas Ranger Large Folding Hunter just came in. Man, I'd forgotten how big that knife is.

This bad boy just came in a couple of hours ago. I'm very happy I was able to track one of these down. Now I'm still looking for the 2008 version.

Both good hardworking budget steels.

A version of both knives can be found for under $100 and in the case of the One Hand knife there's even a VG-10 version that can be ordered under $50.

I own this knife and it is well made nice balance with a good tach sheath.

I remember reading a review about that one at some point. Quite a large piece. Should be very nice. You can get a "second quality" of it for very little money.

I bet that thing is right up your alley for the heavier farm jobs.

So A.G. just posted 2 designs on his website that WILL come my way. One is a budget version of his Acies folder (with lefthanded pocket clip option) and the other basically the latest version of his One Hand Knife, with pocket clip, titanium handle, scales and VG-10 blade.

Well I pulled the trigger on the white bone K12. A friend of mine is bringing it for me from the states. That way I'll be saving around €50 (or around $60) on shipping charges and import taxes.

It's the love/hate relationship I have with buying from A.G. I love the man and his designs....but hate paying around 150% of what he charges for everything I buy from him. I don't blame him for it. But it's still annoying.

Yes it is Jan. Especially on a $120 knife!! When my wife realised how much I'd be saving this way she told me that in the future I could only by from A.G. if someone will bring it to me. hahaha

I didn't really respond to that. But most likely I'll have people either bring me things or ship them to me or something like that.

Hello all, i own a boker plus Bubinga Wood lockback. i have noticed that boker used a couple of Ag,s designs in the making of this knife.it has a wide blade and a stop pin in the blade channel to stop the blade from contacting the backspring.i own a large AG russell folding hunter with the same features.

Checked Google for it. 

Looks decent enough. Makes me wonder if they copied EVERYTHING and did a coil spring lockback like A.G. does on his knives.

I suspect not though. The stop pin is always a nice touch though. But I'm pretty sure when I look at the design that A.G. might have found a way to put EVEN MORE blade in that handle.

it has the standard lockback spring,you are right AG would have put more blade in that handle,it is a very nice knife for the money. fit and finish is very good, the bubinga scales are nice.

Oh yeah. By no means is my comment meant as a detraction of the knife. It looks like excellent value for money. So much that for a second I was tempted myself.

alexander i know that you meant no detraction,ron it does make a nice EDC it is light for it's size and opens and closes very smooth and has zero blade play,has 440c steel and came very sharp. i wonder if it was made in the same factory where AG has his chinese made.

i meant chinese knives made. LOL

Oeh!! Got my One Hand Knife in titanium, Bone and VG-10 today....MAN what a nice knife. The lock is still a bit stiff and it's got some sharp edges.

By now the knife has been broken in a whole lot. It's opening feels smooth as a smooth thing. I also gave it a nice low angle sharpening. Here's a couple of pictures that I think turned out pretty good. I hope to take some more that are good sometime soon:

Thanks for the Pictures makes me reconsider not buying the knife.  I do have the older models and like them allot so I think I will be buying one to add to my collection.  The white bone looks really good almost like Ivory which is really cool.

I just got the new Morseth model 6 and have to get some pictures for you guys really nice knife.  I am really impressed at what has been coming out of the shop the fit and finish is perfect.

Very nice Les. A.G. showed me some of those Morseth ones they were working on when I was over in Arkansas. They seemed like excellent knives.

I've done better than seen that one. I played around with the prototype when I was in AR.

Basically it's a VERY affordable knife with some features of much more pricey knives like the lock stop and the flipper.

The knife feels VERY thin in the hand. It's extremely flat and will disappear in any pocket. It's wide profile though will fill most any hand very well. It's not entirely to my taste but it's very well done. A very nice "low budget" knife.

Oh yeah...and why I was coming to this group today.,....to brag.

I scored an K87 One Hand knife with damascus clad CowryX blade on e-bay. It turned out more expensive than I was hoping for but I'm still happy with the price I paid.

Goldie told me that when they had them in stock (they haven't for a while) they didn't really realise how special the blade material was untill they were almost all gone.

So I'm happy that I could find one still. I'd have preferred to buy one directly from them...but since they don't sell them anymore that wasn't an option. Can't wait for that one to get here.

For those that don't know, Cowry X is a steel similar to ZDP189 with insanely high rockwell ratings. (somewhere along the lines of Hrc 65-67) If should take and hold a KILLER edge for a VERY long time.

I have one with Mamouth scales very sweet knife.  I'll try to send a picture.

I think I've seen pictures of that one. If I had the funds I'd buy that from you without a second thought.

No need not selling love the knife.  I just bought a new camera coming Wednesday so I am hoping to start sending pics of my Ag russell collection which is extensive.

There's a version with Sambar on the bay right now. Buy it Now price is more than double of what I just paid for mine...looks gorgeous though.
