I'm curious too as to how easy it is to sharpen 01. I know my GEC 1095 holds a good edge and it's REAL easy to get a razor sharp edge!

  • Jan Carter

Hey guys, while I was talking to Chris last night I asked her if the glow in the dark one white and she said no.  Faint green tint even when it is not glowing

  • Jim McLeod

    Craig......

O1 is just as easy to sharpen as 1095 and will hold and edge longer...I've been using O1 knives in the outdoors for the past 5 years and have been very happy...

Thanks Jim! That's good to know!

I'll have to get a black Bull Nose sometime.

I wonder if that Bull Nose would go over in "John Deere Green"?

I wanted to let you all know, I will be at the Rep weekend at SMKW this month 12-14.  This is a weekend where the reps come up and man their own product areas at SMKW.  It promises to be a good time with the ability to ask questions and meet the people behind the knives.  With that in mind I found out last night that Chris from Great Eastern will be joining us there!!!  So if you feel the need for fall, want to see whats going on in the knife world this season, or just have the need to put some in your hands....Come on by, say hi and look for Chris  (she will probably know where to find me also)

    NICE!

Geez, that was fast....again. Does Pony Express go right past your house?

  • Ron Cooper

That's a beauty, Jan! I love that Beavertail shield!

  • Ron Cooper

Have you seen that Hogan done in Calico bone? http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

Those look pretty good Ron. I saw them in Cocobolo yesterday. The Ben Hogan is growing on me......slooowly......after I saw it in Cocobolo.

  • Jan Carter

    Craig,

I think the post office has my house on speed dial LOL.

I was never as fond of the first hogan as I am of this one.  I think it is a combination of the lockback and the handle choices.  Calico has turned into the handle of choice for me but I cant resist a Beavertail!

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

Do you have the non-lockback Ben Hogan in Beavertail?

  • Gary Thomas

I wonder if they are going to make any with the spear. I like the spear!

    Craig Henry

Hmmm, Pheasant Feathers. I think I like it.

I'm also glad to see they are doing another production run of the #25 Little Jack! Most dealers don't have many left of the original ones.

Now, if they'd just do another run of #33 Conductors!!!!!

  • Jim McLeod

    Craig....

I think you called it on the canoe...could that be the Indian Girl

GEC is going to use "Ring Wood". I wonder if that's the same as "Ring-Porous Wood"

"Hardwoods may be divided into ring-porous and diffuse-porous trees. In ring-porous trees the vessels laid down at the beginning of the growing season are much larger than subsequent vessels laid down at the end of the season (or ring). Diffuse-porous trees form vessels of roughly the same radial diameter throughout the growing season. Larger vessel size permits more-rapid water conduction."

  • Bob Andrews

I think it's supposed to be Kingwood. You're seeing a Typo.

    Craig Henry

They shouldn't do that to us old guys! LOL!
