I just spotted a new drawing with changes to the GEC#23 Tidioute Woodland micarta Trapper two blade knife.

  • Jan Carter

Just an FYI from TSA Knives

    adding today:

11 GEC Specialty knives from the Charlie C. collection. All are new in the box, dates ranging from 2012 to 2016. Most of them are barlows, with a few others mixed in.

  • Jan Carter

I hate that the knife factories are being closed for this virus but I would hate it worse if our few & far between cutlers were taken by it.  For now, let's all just look to see if there is a piece we are missing in our collections and try to find it.  While our manufactures may be closed for a little while, our sellers are not...let's be supportive of them?

I just received a white bone Pocket Carver #62 and a #38 Bocote wood single blade.  I have been eyeing a #38 2017 single blade knife since I starting collecting GEC knives in 2018.  I can afford any knife that I want.  I stay off of Evil-bay since they charge state tax now.  I like most of the GEC dealers.  I know which dealers will bend over backwards for me and the dealers who could care less.  I learned how to get the knives that I really want.  I am a single blade fool.  But I learned that GEC#86 Jack knives are so much fun in your pocket.  I took a leap of faith on those knives and scored heavily.   I am excited ,stoked ,and frustrated over the GEC#23 two blades and #23LL Trappers.  I'll be money set next Friday for the #23 knives.  I bought too many GEC #62 congress/carvers and I still came out on top with  my saving.  I just received my CASE XX Trapper-lock Kickstart green zebra wood knife.  The knife deals are popping up everywhere .  I am so weak !  I plan to buy ten GEC#23 knives , maybe more.  I want to support Great Eastern Cutlery and the GEC dealers.  I have bought all the NOS GEC knives that I really wanted.  "PUSSYFOOTING" is the true enemy of knife collecting. I am up to sixty-seven GEC knives now.  I am so blessed and thankful.   My whole knife collection is getting Krazy.   "GREAT EASTERN KNIFE COLLECTING IS WAR !"

After the #23 run , things will get real exciting.   We are going to see better knife/scale choices.  The dealers have plenty of NOS knives.  GEC and the GEC dealers will need to make money , not get stuck with NOS knives.   Bill Howard knows what sells faster and sells out quickly.  The best GEC knives are yet to come , this and next year.  GEC needs to offer more scale choices and less quantity of each knife offered. Beaver shields is a great example.  On the #23 Brazilian wood , go half beaver shield and go half bomb or hounds tooth shield .  Some collectors will try to buy both, like me.  More choices is always better. And less pieces will drive up the value of the Great Eastern cutlery knives.  The #62 Pocket Carver Camel banana and square bar shield knives are a great example.  It is going to be fun to see what GEC comes up with after the #23 run.

Well I finally made a purchase with Blue Creek Cutlery.  I love to support dealers that support iKC Forum.  I bought three knives from Blue Creek Cutlery.  I spotted a GEC#93 Rams-foot Oily Creek Bone knife on Franks that had been sold. I went on the hunt , big time.  I spotted the #86 Oil Field Jack Oil Sucker Rod Wood knife. I snagged it. I missed out on that one last year.  I had been eyeing an #81 Osage Orange wood knife with a rare knot hole.  I snagged it.  .  There was  photo of a really dark GEC#93 Rams-foot Oily Creek Bone knife at the lowest price !  Man I scored well today.  Blue Creek Cutlery ROCKS !

  • Jan Carter

    Kenneth,

You did indeed score and YES!  Blue Creek rocks

  • Jan Carter

The collection purchased by Erin must have been a doozy!

"Friday 4-3-2020, there will be 15+ New (old stock) Northwoods knives added to the store.  There is a wide variety of handle material available.   Some knives come with a medallion as well.  Each knife has it's own beautifully made leather sheath.  "

  • Tim

Thank you for the heads up Jan. They have had some really nice GEC's put up.

It would be super great if they had a Northwoods Presidential :-)

  • T. Smith

Thank you Ken for the kind welcome in this community. I am definitely a fan of the Great Eastern produced examples and I hope to visit this forum often and become more familiar with like-minded members. I actually received a nice example today, an SFO via Charlie C. It felt like stepping back in time as I went over the details of its scratted parchment bone covers on this 15c115. Thrilled for the opportunity to have in my possession.

  • Fred Kemp

That's a good looking knife, T. Smith! Is that a daily carry?

  • Ralph Nelson

Fantastic score T. Smith. Good looking, thanks for sharing.

  • T. Smith

Thank you very much, Ralph. And Fred Kemp, I'm probably not gonna put this one in daily rotation. May carry on special occasions and the holidays. :) Might change my mind but I already have several I use everyday.

Well I just snagged another Osage Orange GEC knife.  My #81 and my newest #29 Osage Orange knives will look cute together.

  • Clint Thompson

    T. Smith, a good looking blade. Very interesting and a good find.

  • Clint Thompson

Kennith this Osage Orange knife is just beautiful. Good snag.

Mine coming in , might not be the same one in the picture. Another #29 Osage Orange is for sale using the same picture.  Every Osage Orange wood GEC knife that I have seen lately looks superb.  My latest one has a tiny knot-hole !  Blue Creek Cutlery has #81 and #29 Osage Orange GEC knives to choose from.  Cherry pick the one you want.

Blue Creek Cutlery has three killer Osage Orange NOS knives in stock.  The NOS GEC knives are disappearing quite rapidly , because of the factory shut down.  I just bought a 2017 knife that I had been "pussyfooting" for two years now. This #29 is Krazy !  "You snooze ! - You looze !"

  • T. Smith

Very nice find there Kenneth. Definitely a fine example on the Osage Orange. Enjoy it good health!

    Kenneth,

I take it PA is one of those that is discussing not opening yet

  • Dennis Hibar

Jan ... PA is going to start open on a county by county basis starting May 8th.  Crawford county, where GEC is located, is one of those counties.  Specifics on what business may re-open and what restrictions will be in place will not be released until May 4th.

  • T. Smith

Good evening all! What wonderful news to hear Great Eastern getting back to work. My last one was an old stock 86 from JSR that they didn't remember was still there, lol. I can hardly wait for upcoming drops of the 23 LL's that were in mid process when they had to shutdown abruptly.

  • Jan Carter

I am EXCITED for everyone that GEC is going back to work.  A very small area and greatly effected by Queen last year so putting them back to work is a win all the way around!  Thanks guys for supporting the iKC supporters.

The GEC collector & users were among the greatest group of old stock buyers of any brand I saw during the shutdown and our dealers were bringing them out to shine in our collections daily!

I have wonderful news.  I was 100% spot on the Northfield GEC#23 Brown jigged bone Pioneer Trapper.  I wrote Bill Howard many letters to bring back this color.  The Northfield GEC#23 Pioneer Trapper is Chocolate Almond Peach-seed jigged bone.   When I see this dark chocolate jigged bone scales before buffing , I know what it is .  This Northfield #23 knife is Chocolate Almond peach-seed jigged bone. GEC did the same thing with the #86 JSR Sports & More SFO knife in 2019.  This is my favorite brown jigged bone color ever.  Bill Howard is crazy on bone color names.  What every he calls it , this knife will be Chocolate Almond jigged bone color.   When these dark brown scales get buffed , these knives will be a whole new animal.

  • Fred Kemp

Thanks Kenneth for the heads up! Just ordered the Beaver #23 from TSA.

  • T. Smith

I too am looking forward to the 23 Beaver that should be here any day. I'm a big fan of mid/larger size models and this one fits the bill. I'm really hoping to nab a 23LL soon as that's been on my radar for a long while. Thank you guys for keeping us all updated. Those Woodland Micartas turned out better than I ever imagined..

I talked to Mr. Frank , these Exotic India bone knives are sold out and 32 buyers wanted two.  I wanted an extra one to remove the main blade for EDC.  Everybody gets only one.  I bought the last Northfield #Pioneer Trapper Antique Autumn natural bone and I am going to have the main blade removed.  The secondary phat beefy spey blade is wonderful for chores.   iCK forum supporter : "JSR Sports & More" has the first three #23s in stock right now at the best release date prices.  Woodland micarta , Beaver gnawed jigged cherry wood , and Northfield #23 Antique autumn natural bone two blade Jumbo Trappers   !

I just received my invoice on the GEC#23 SFO .  Mr. Frank picked me out the darkest , thickest , and winter-bottom style jigging in the bunch.

  • Jan Carter

    NO MORE SFO's !

  • In Memoriam

    Kenneth W. Hill

No more GEC , SFO , Northwoods , Club or Forum SFO knives.  The bigger dealers are hogging up the best bone color , saw cut , and wood choices.   GEC needs to offer better choices , not more choices.  Dealers need to sell out in weeks after release .  Bill Howard knows what he is doing .   I am supporting GEC the best I can in the future.  Please support our iKC dealers.

  • Clint Thompson

    Beautiful knives for sure.
