Anyone have a new one?  How about a Yellowhorse to share?

  • Sunil Ram

I just got the TravelMate Kit. Seems cool. I haven't used it yet. Hope to find a good use/reason to use it soon so I can put it to work. Seems like it would be a great camping utensil. Although the plastic sheath does Not attach to a belt. That would be the one thing I would recommend they change. I see it is now again currently not available. So I just got mine in time. :)

The Kalinga just might be my favorite Buck knife ever.  Nice Knife!!

I had both the Kalinga and Akonua when I was collecting Buck knives around 27 years ago. They're both beautiful knives!

  • Gary Nelson

Yes they are both nice.  The Kalinga feels the best in my hand.  Both are substantial knives.

I don't know what I did wrong here but this knife has what appears to be a minuteman or a Revolutionary War figure on the handle any ideas? Has x on blade.

    Nice wood handles!

  • Sunil Ram

Thorvan, the X indicates your knife was made in 1990. Not sure about the handle pic. I will have to investigate it more when I have time.

  • Sunil Ram

James, nice 110. The upside-down T means it was made in 2004, the last year they were made in El Cajon, CA before moving to Post Falls, ID.

  • Thorvan Patten JR.

       Thanks.

  • Jan Carter

While it may not be traditional Buck.  I do like it!

  • Sunil Ram

I like it as well. Might have to save up to get this one.

  • Billy Oneale

    I want one also.

For a modern chop-zombie-heads-off knife, that's pretty cool!

    Craig Henry

Speaking of spiders.............anyone see these?  It creeps me out! LOL!

  • Billy Oneale

    I want the Hoodlum also.

  • Ms Data

But if you get a Hoodlum you have to get a Punk and if you get a Hoodlum and Punk you have to get a Thug . . . and then you sort of have to get a Reaper too.

  • Billy Oneale

Data, you have a good point. I want them all, but I probably won't get them all. I also want the Bantam's with the new camo handles. At least they are more affordable.

Looks like a Yellowhorse had something to do with.

  • Ms Data

Come on Jan. You can't just throw up a pic and make us guess about who made it.

    Love that hoodlum
  • Ms Data

I have to say I am beginning to really like the new Buck Sentry.  They seem to be going after the SOG Seal Pup market with this one.  Hopefully they will come out with a non-serrated version soon.

I haven't kept up with Buck knives for years (I used  to collect them MANY years ago), but I came across this fixed blade based on the 112. I think it's very cool!

  • Bob Robinson

Just bought a script Buck 703 Bronco. Very nice.

  • Ken Spielvogel

Great Bucks all - Steve that is a neat chart with good info. thanks.

  • Bob Robinson

Thanks Steve, Yep it"s pre 86 I think. I'll post a pick sometime. Also enjoyed the Buck knives chart, amazing stuff!

  • Claes Wallgren

    Hello Bucklovers!

I just recently became a member and it was when I was looking for a custom Ranger I thumbled over this side.  A while ago I bought my first Ranger after a lot of reading and comparing. It's a standard 112, the only one you can find here in Sweden:'(. But I'm allready in love with it! In my opinion its the perfekt folder. The look, the weightand the overall quality! I, m now looking  for a custom. I would like one with nickelsilver bolsters, stagplates and a customblade. I hoped to be able to order one at the customshop but it seems like they dont take any orders. Does anyone know how it works or is there any other way to get my perfect knife? Take care out there!

  • Ron Cooper

    Howdy, Claes!

My very first Buck knife was the Ranger 112 And, like you, I also fell in love with the size and shape of it. It would be several years before I finally purchased the iconic 110. Then I became obsessed with it, as well!

As far as I know there were a limited number of 112's that Buck made back in 2006 for the BCCI (Buck Collectors Club International) that were almost exactly as you described as your dream knife. If I recall there were 175 made?

They were really sweet, too! Sambar stag with finger grooves - Nickel silver bolsters and pins - S30V "drop point" blade!<----WOW!

I have only seen pictures of these custom Collectors Club knives. I have never actually held one in my hand. But I know they are out there. Of course, if you find one, you can expect to pay a pretty hefty price for it since Buck claimed that they would not be making anymore custom 112's.

That's about all I know. Good luck in your quest to find the ultimate knife!

    Cheers!

  • MJ Wallace

    Hi Claes!

Congratulations on your new 112 Ranger, it's a great knife.

You're right, the "Custom Shop" at Buck's website doesn't give the option of customizing a 112.  Only the 110 Hunter, the Alpha Hunter (fixed blade), and the 500 series... 501, 503, 505

Maybe one of the 500's would suit you.  They're lockbacks like the 112.  You can customize with stag scales and upgrade the steel to S30V.

Here's a link, although I think you already have it:

    http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=customKnife.build

Hmmmm, I wonder if they will ship a custom to Sweden, you might want to contact them first.

    you must try ebay

  • Sunil Ram

Claes, unfortunately Buck doesn't offer the 112 Folding Ranger as a choice in their online Custom Shop. I wish they had the 55 model as an option (half size of the 110). A must buy is their DVD video. It's$20, but for members it is only $8. USA Dollars. Not sure if it is region free or USA/Canada only.
