Mini knife makers and collectors

Mini's have been around for a long time and made and enjoyed by many. If you like them or make them Join this Group and lets talk about them!

  • Jan Carter

The talent it takes to make a regular size knife astounds me.  These little treasures are just phenomenal

  • Jeremi Lett

These mini blades were all made individually by hand from dull old saw blades.I have since sold or traded these trinkets and am making more soon.

I have always been a collector and maker of miniatures. I am glad I found a group of mini knife collectors. I may have to start collecting more mini knives now.

I am sorry Steve, I didn't mean to mislead you. I make miniature items. Not all knives. Actually, I have only ever made one mini knife. If I can figure out how to add photos here, I will show you the one I made.

Steve the only thing making it difficult lately is my eye sight getting worse. This may be the year I have to get glasses. At this point I will welcome them. :)

This was a gift from a friend-I know by now  you almost expect me to say this(" I do wish people would stop giving me knives!! LOL). I have no idea who made it or where it came from. I just know that I like it !!

Here is my "toothpick" knife, Mexican style !! This was yet another gift from way back, I actually forgot from who or when I got it. I know nothing about it, except for the hand scrawled "made In Mexico" tang stamp. Not sure if it qualifies as a true miini, being a whopping 3 1/2 inches in overall length !!

Steve, if you can make it to the Knifemakers' Guild Show in Louisville, KY the first weekend of August, I should have a full box of miniatures you can look at up close and personal. Sold most I had at the Blade Show last month, but have slowly been rebuilding my inventory.

    Hello Everyone,
One of my early childhood memories is of my mom's keychain knives. She had two one was red and the other was yellow. They were no more than two inches long open. I recall her letting me open and admiring them. I was hooked.

Tamera was deployed Friday.  We hope that once she gets used to her routine she will get back into her knives.  Her inventory was depleted several months ago.  She will be underway for 40 days and can only email us.  We will keep you updated.

  • Alan

I wish some one would make a mini M3......

  • Jan Carter

Hmmm, I am wondering if Chris Sievert could do that?

  • KnifeMaker

    Chris Sievert

    I could do that Jan.

alan pitcher what length would you want it to be or what scale if that is easier?

  • Alan

maybe no more than 4 1/2  to 5 inches total, would make a neat, small letter opener

  • Alan

I found these online, kinda shows the parts view

  • Alan

Hi, Chris, say you could do?

  • KnifeMaker

    Chris Sievert

Yes I could do. I need to know did you want an M3 Knife or an M4 Bayonet? Your 1st picture was an m3 knife and I could do one with no problems the M4 bayonet would be more difficult but still doable.... I just need to know if if you want the blade done in Damascus or 1095 high carbon steel... I assume you want the traditional stacked leather handle and would you want steel or brass guard and pommel? 4 1/2-5 inch is very doable. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Full size is around 11 inches in length? So just under 1/2 (or Just over 1/3) scale for the Miniature

  • Alan

sorry bout the wrong pic,,the M3  knife is the knife I would want done, as far as the blade, guard and pommel, steel would be fine  and 4 1/2  to 5 inch  would also be fine . The full size is 11 1/2 "  I think.

  • Alan

Whopeeeee, Chris says  "he can do that"

  • KnifeMaker

    Chris Sievert

here is the 1/2 scale M3 for alan pitcher...

  • KnifeMaker

    Carl Rechsteiner

That turned out real nice Chris.

Are you planning on attending the Knifemakers' Guild Show in Kansas City next year?

  • Jan Carter

that sure turned out nice Chris!!

  • KnifeMaker

    Chris Sievert

Carl wasn't that Sept of This year?

  • KnifeMaker

    Carl Rechsteiner

It's an annual show - didn't make this one.

They changed the name of the show when they moved it from Louisville, KY (I'll have to look it up). It's a joint show now - Knifemakers' Guild and ABS.

Have already reserved a table for next year.

  • Alan

Just wanted to comment that I recd the knife that Chris made and it is a dandy,  it looks and is put together just like the real deal, Thanks again, Chris.

  • Jan Carter

Hey Alan,  Glad you received it!  Can we get a pic of it at it's new home?

  • Jerry Holm

I've just posted pic's of two of my miniature knives.  These two are hand made and were purchased directly from the maker.  Both are marked with the initial "M". These are the favorites from my entire collection.  I'd appreciate your thoughts on these two especially.  Most of my other mini's are factory made, such as keychain; mini multifunction (e.g. swiss army); and souvenir knives,

  • Jacqueline Parker

Here's my Mini Stag Puma :)

  • KnifeMaker

    Carl Rechsteiner

Nice little Puma. What's the dimensions?

Chris - It's the ICCE Show and is in Kansas City, MO Sept 23/24/25 (this year, 2016). I'll be there along with a pretty good contingency of Georgia Makers. If you make the show come by and see me.

  • KnifeMaker

    Chris Sievert

Carl I'm going to see if my dad wants to day trip it, we're only 2 hours away... ;)

After so many years of collecting knives, I am finally attempting to make one of my own. I am making a mini knife that will fit into an Altoid tin and still be usable. Here is a pic of the start of it.
