Yeah, I'm still finding new things to do here myself. Feel free to poke and click. If I can help, we'll figure it out.

May I call you JJ? Thanks for the invite! You sure come up with some unusual, interesting & just plain good looking knives.
  • Rusty R Halsey

Two questions: What is a peach monkey and do you carve them? (that's only one of my questions)
And, what is the app you loaded "Emote"? I really haven't had time to go poking deep in the applications yet.

Cool peach pits. I noticed them, I thought on your hat in one of your pics.
On the map, yeah, I thought that was cool too. You see how many of us put our geo location, about 3%. Maybe once we are good and off the ground, we can strong arm folks into putting it on their page. You know our place is probably much more personal in terms of relating to each other than any other place I have seen online- in terms of knife places, anyway. Not everyone is comfortable with that.....yet :)
  • Steve wells

    Thanks JJ
Just trying to get all my knives on the page-hopeing a Russlock Collector may need the info. on the pics, and it is FUN

    JJ,

Thanks for the welcome. Looks like a nice place to hang out once I learn my way around. Did look at some of your pics earlier as I also like slip joints, old and new. I have about half a dozen Case knives, but for some reason I cannot and I mean literally, cannot sharpen them. Don't know what it is as they are the only ones I have trouble with. They're different models also. Strange. Toying with the idea of getting one of those "Chef's Pro" or something like that and give it a try. Boy, I'm getting wordy in my old age. Better stop for now. Thanks again for the welcome.

  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

  • Relly Carpio

Thank you for the welcome sir. Glad to be here.
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Those are pretty cool! Do you put a finish on them?
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Wow, those are pretty cool. How long does each take to make?
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Looks cool, I'm gonna try it next time I buy a dozen peaches!
  • Sam Gilbert (KunaiKnight)

    very nice
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Thanks for the link, I got a couple peaches the other day. If I carve one worth seeing, I'll show it to you!
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Ok. I've have my share of bloodshed over these 10 years...

I actually cut myself so deep with a razor blade it got embedded into the bone.
  • Antonios Kekalos

Are you kidding...we don't have any 5 star diners here that serve that kind of quality cuisine!
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Thanks for the inspiration! The store was empty but they should have some big ones in soon
  • Sohrab Sean Barfehi

Thanks for the comment J.J., I cant wait to learn more about knives!
  • Wayne Revis

Came across a handmade ROW3 large pocket knife. 12 cm folded and 9 cm straight point blade, brass bolsters, and stag sides and very nice. Either Rowe with backwards E or Row3. Only marks on knife are 1988 and Row3. I can find nothing. If you have seen one please tell me where.
  • Sohrab Sean Barfehi

Yeah I've been reading up on some things, seems like I've learned so much just today. I cant wait to learn more!
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

When you start carving at the peach pit, do you remove the inner seed, or just leave it there?
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

Do you glue the two halves back together? I tried to look for a video tutorial or at least a picture tutorial but I couldn't find one...

Cyanide...Yeah that stuff ain't good for ya
  • Anthony (ChanceToFade)

J.J. you should start a group or discussion on peach pit wittling seeing as your the king!
  • Wayne Revis

It is not a Fred Rowe knife. Dates and style do not match. Not Col Nick Rowe or Kenny Rowe. I remember being told the guy was in his eighties when he made this quality knife in 1988. Somewhere there was a master knife maker that has been missed.

  • Ally Burnham

    Hey J J
So I am working on a video for iKC and I was wondering if I could use your pictures of the old timer peanut? As a photographer I would never use it with out asking. Also wondering if Luke the drifter would like to be in it?
    Thanks
    Ally
  • Greg Vangsness

Thanks for taking the interest J.J. The mods are not major, more to do with the shaping of the large blade to allow for 'scooping' and the mid sized blade is rounded of along the back of the blade. I plan to show it and my first effort when I can find time and some good natural light :) probably not for about two weeks unless the excitement of it all gets the better of me. We have our District Convention of Synod and Pastor's Conference coming up with loads of prep to be made. Cheers, and yiC, Greg.
