Hey J.J, I am not sure what kind of wood this is. The piece of wood I used on the first two that I carved were out of the same piece of wood. That particular wood made excellent carving material, however, the knife in the picture that you commented on was a piece of wood I found on the side of the road. It was extremely difficult to carve with and I will never use that again. Also, I took that video down because it was messed up. I will remake the video and let you know when I get it posted. I am thinking of getting me a spruce 2x4 and trim it down into small pieces for carving, however, I am unsure how it will carve. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

JJ... I'm sorry to hear that you're all crippled up. I have a bad right knee that has the maniscus missing, and a bad left hip. Authritic shoulders and a titanium heart valce. I go in tomorrow for jaw bone removal and reconstruction and all new teeth. At least I'll be able to bite Ain't Donna.
My first car was a 1941 surplus army jeep. I was 9 years old and didn't NEED brakes, thank you. I was immortal. My second was a 1935 Ford pickup flathead V8. It was so much more powerful than the Jeep. It had mechanical brakes, but it had BRAKES! I was wiping with the top leaves. The last pickup I had was a 51 F-1. It was that olive drab color. Remember that? I really want a 53 to 56 F-100 street rod. I've always wanted one.
I see that I'm really getting too old and inactive to get anything new. I guess maybe they will bury me in my old 95 Taurus SE. They'll have to drain quite a bit of gas out of it, though. I've already filled it up once this year. It's a good old car, and I've never had to replace anything on it but the plugs, the oil and the tires and the fanbelt. Hacku'va good old car!

hey JJ just picked up a swell center camillus 3 blade whittler, I know they are pretty common, except was kind of excited about this one, has
the Boy Scouts of American emblem on it. What do you think, I only give
50 cents for it, Hope I didn't get hurt LOL

handle is broke right above the emblem at the first pin. Lots of patena, other than that looks like it was never sharpened. All the blades look to
me 100% Looks just like the one I had in 1957 or so. Long pull Camillus
underlined all in capital letters, then says NEW YORK USA, I'm sure its
Derlin, but cut like Rogers Bone, I'll try to get a picture up this evening
after I come out of the barn and get through with my chores. Which should be before the knife show tonight.

Howdy J.J., was just admiring your peach pit carvings. Very cool, they look like they take a lot of time to make. But man, your fingers have got to get sore from holding those while carving!...And how many times have you nicked your fingers while doing that.......Like I said, they are cool.

Got some peaches this week, but they were small. The pits are 1-1 1/4" long. My wife reminded me that lots of the pits of the big Elberta peaches that we got last summer were split. Do you carve smaller pits, or do you stick with the big ones?

Got a couple dozen more S. GA peaches today. Pits are a little larger, but not whoppers. I'll add em to the collection....told my wife not to throw any more peach seeds away....she looked at me like I'm crazy! Nothing new tho; she's been doing that for 43 years.
BTW, I tool your advise...got a Case Seahorse Whittler coming!

Tslil, my knifemaker friend from Israel (where knives are ikllegal), will be in the 20th. I'm really looking forward to it. He's bringing his family and I can hardly wait. He makes some awesome knives.
I got a new seahorsie from Charles Hoover this week. It's a masterpiece in Damascus and Dinousaur Bone.

Thanks JJ I'll look into those groups and see if there is anything I can contribute. I'm a little rusty, I haven't been to a club meeting in a couple of years and really need to inspect and polish my collection, but with trying to keep my companies afloat it's not easy.

Bought a Crandell swell center one bladed jack knife at a place where I go to check out their knives. It's name is marathon gas station or Greens. It's in Tuxedo, NC. We also saw the largest fireworks display or one the largest I had ever seen . It's hard to imagine that this happened in Tuxedo. Those folks sure are patriotic.Hope you had a great 4th. J.J., I have two Seahorses a Pearl and a red bone one. I think it is called a Fire Oak Worm Groove. I like the pattern, I have a buddy who just collects Seahorses and he has about 45-50 of them. I will have to try and get him on here with some photos. Hope all is well with you.

Spent the last 9 days in Pennsylvania, so I'm loads behind. I'll get caught up and back into my routine in a day or so. I did get to pick up another Seahorse while I was gone, (Harvest Orange Pocket Worn).
