thanks for the welcome. btw, what is that thing on the photo under 'peach pit monkey'? is that a pretzel?

regarding case knives (or any sort of multi-bladed traditional folders) what is the function of all those different blades? from the point of view of blade shape. how would you expect to use a stockman with a clip point blade, a sheepsfoot blade and a spey blade? or a seahorse whittler with wharncliff, pen & coping blades? for just EDC use should be i getting either of those or a trapper or whatever else?

Thanks for the welcome, JJ! I just got started with collecting, and I am glad to have found you all. I have been looking for a forum like this for several weeks. I have a lot to learn! Looks like this is the place!

oh wow! that is amazing! do you have to do anything to the peach first? i thought the pit would be very hard. i certainly didn't expect anything like that. but that looks really fun, and i can eat a lot of peach if i tried. i just wish i had a local knife store which carries some of these different patterns for me to try =(. i definitely can't afford a whole bunch of case knives online, but the closest thing i've seen is a schrade old timer stockman from a place that has a few different knives a year. do you think the pen blade on a victorinox hunter can carve a peach pit or is it too thin?
  • Jason Foreman

I am still trying to figure out the way this site works. For some reason the messages I get are not in cronological order so I just saw your note. I probably have some setting messed up!
Anyway, I have several Seahborse collectors and it seems that any Seahorse I finish sells withing a few days of listing. The Seahorse, Case Mini Trapper and the Buck 110 are my three favorite knives to work with so I do more of them. Thanks for the nice feedback on my art work too.... Mike
  • Fred Feightner

Hey JJ - no problem - go ahead and shut down the Seahorse group. We'll see ya back at Case Fans!

  • michael cassani

Thanks J.J. I am going to love this. Just spent the weekend with my brother. We went to the NKCA show in Louisville and had a great time. He recently caught the knife bug and acquired a couple of Great Easterns from Ryan, whose father, I think, or Uncle started the company. I had a little trouble with impulse control and added 5! great easterns to my collection. Also a TOPS fixed blade that carries quite well horizontally on my waist, a nice little Boker lockback made in Germany. A Benchmade Bench Mite Auto was found for 60.00 but not sure if that was a good price. A few other things but duty calls right now. Good to know and meet you J.J.

The pumpkin thing seemed to have gone over pretty smoothly. Only noticed our number decreased by one, just don't know who and for what reason. Could have been anything. We'll do a harmless Thanksgiving one next month, but not a turkey :)

  • steve haraldson

I have one, a 1994 classic 73055 abalone swirl. It came unsharpened and it is out gassing and pitted 2 blades on the side where the case shield is located. BUT it sure is purdie.

Yeah, I noticed. Got sent one last night and yeah, Doug did a good thing.

Yeah, see if you can whip us up a custom iKC one or two. I'd love an "ATABOY" or Kuduos one :)
  • Jimmy Marshall

I will get one up soon. Gotta figure out new camera.
