My Husband Donnie and I live in Hiawassee GA. I was Blessed to have found iKC and became the owner in October of 2012. I believe all knife collectors are created equal, no matter what type they collect. iKC brings a different direction to knife collecting in my opinion, you may not personally like something or have an issue with a particular company. But respect is a substantial aspect of what we are about. I have a strong faith and believe everyone is entitled to theirs.
Interests
History, fishing, Diving, knife collecting and about a billion other things LOL. My main interest these days is iKC and bringing the future generations into knife collecting.
Other Hobbies
there are other hobbies? OK, I found one! Watching my husband learn to build knives
thats cool gunny will be at the blade show maybe you can ask him a question or two for me we could use the info for the site and maybe a autogragh .thanks jan..
Hi Jan, I reckon you're at the show in Atlanta. I just wanted to let you know that after 30 years of wantin' a "Randall", I finally broke down & bought a new Model 5, Small Camp Knife with a stag handle & 5" blade. Very similar to that Model 8-4 Bird & Trout Knife that I've been pining away fer.
I couldn't be happier & got it at a good price. Life's too short to be sayin' "yeah, maybe one of these daze....? - Kent
I know a lot of folks figure a certain knife should be kept for display only as an "investment", never used, never sharpened, destroys the value as a collector's item and I have several like that (including many Case) but I also believe ya gotta use 'em sometimes to truly enjoy 'em. Just sitting in a display case or locked away ain't no fun.
I intend to get some field use out of this Randall I just bought. To me, it would be a sin to just keep it locked away. I'm at that age where I want to enjoy & use the "toys" that make me happy & to h--- with worrying 'bout "investing".
Yes that is my girl Sasha. We have another one who is a black Lab named Juan Pablo. We love our animals. Sasha inspects the knives I make :-) I will look into IKC Dogs.
Miss Jan, the girls wanted to post some pictures of my trophies and horns after seeing you post yours. I did it on gmail because I didn't want to seem like I was braging. I use to enter the parish fishing rodeos and a few others, I always did okay. I quit entering them a couple of times and finally quit for good. They are really proud of their old paw paw. If you want to use the pictures you can. We just love having you and Donnie as our friends.
jan thank you very much for the information about jantz very helpful.thanks again stephen.what do you think would be a good name to put on them knifes?
Many thanks for the concern Jan, I'm still here. It just somehow seemed to as of lately be a great focus on historical American cutlery on iKC which is a subject I've only but begun to grasp so I take a big step back and simply observe the ones with the greater knowledge and try to pick up the useful things they share. :)
If more Jap damascus topics, cold forging, sharpening and the like pops up I will be on them like a piranha ;D
jan i hope all is going well for you and donnie there at gec i bet your eyes are popping out looking at all those great knifes.stay safe and we will be waiting to here from you.your friend stephen....
Jan & Donnie, it was a real pleasure to meet you both at the GEC Rendezvous. Of course we can't forget about Casey!! Wonderful Lab he is!! I enjoyed the few days down in Titusville tremendously. Meeting and greeting, talking knives and making friends, what more could you ask! Where are you guys off too next? Tell Donnie I will start my fist cutom knife fairly soon, looking at blades already. By the way if you do not remeber my name, I'm the English guy.
