Welcome to the "Carbon Steel Knife Group". We love a good patina, here, and a knife like grand paw use to have. We'd love to hear what you think of carbon knives.
Craig .. you're also a WWII history buff .. here's one for you .........................
My Father-in-law was dropped into Holland & also fought in Bastogne .. 101'st airborne .. He swears to having never been issued one of these .. "n I took that one over & showed him as an example .. explaining that the paratrooper's unit reportedly had brown jigged bone.
Hope that you enjoy your GEC when you get it/them. I enjoy Boker's too - mostly older ones though. You can see some of mine in my Boker photo album on my page. I need to check out your pictures also.
I am honored to accept your invitation, my friend! I've enjoyed nosing around your page. I have only recently been seriously bitten by the knife bug -- About the last year or so. Many years ago I had a few prize knives that I had gathered over time. But then those along with my guns all seemed to evolve into other "hobbies." So I pretty much started to pursue knives again from ground zero, so to speak. In this last year knives are about all I think about! Yikes, now I'm rambling! lol
Craig, thanks for the comment on the old Imperial harness knife. I feel fortunate to have found this knife in the superb condition. Someone sure did take care of it & its too bad I cant thank that someone for it.
Thanks Craig for the comment on the rough black Case tested. Another old one that someone has cherished with very little use that I will add to my collection. Thanks again.
about 12 years ago someone broke into my home and relieved me of about 300 of my schrade scrimshaws
but good fortune and perserverence came upon me and I was able to replace many. I have about twenty complete sets of six of the American Indian folklore SC507 and 505 as well as many many more.
I started on benchmade recently but just today lost the screws out of one of my ceramic daily carry and am thinking perhaps wqualioty control isn't the best as I have only been carry this knife three weeks.
Really don't know what to think and I would welcome comments pro or con.
Naturally I did not keep the papers so I could perhaps return to factory.
I miss the early vector game "Battle Zone" a first-person tank battle. Wish there were something like that now. Real hard core shooter and skip all the childish nonsense. Aim and fire, keep moving!
I'm sitting here with a double ended stockman in one hand, and a single ended lockback in the other. Gee whiz, it's blondes vs redheads again, or was that brunettes vs raven haired. Now I'm confused again. I need a couple more hands.
You were correct about that Sm. Jack knife! I looked at the knife in question and the top of the 7 is gone so it looks like a leaning 1, My Stupid, what was I thinking?! Thanks for that or I would still be wrong and proving how stupid to others that may not be friends with!
Craig, forgot to mention that lil' wooden knife stand that has Case printed on it comes from Shepherd Hills but it's not in catalog you have to call and ask for it it's $5.00 i think. They have two I believe one with their name on the wood or the one with Case on it and you have to assemble them and I had to use a finger nail file as it was too tight a fit!
Just a little note to let you know I'm thinking about you. I hope your eye surgery is painless and successful. Check-in after you've had some rest and let us know that you're okay.
Craig, thanks for noting my pesky annual birthday (they just keep comin'!).
Actually, I'm a Virginian -- born & bred, though most of my life has been devoted to the military, with it's moving and traveling. We've lived in NC for the 14 years since I retired, and it's quite a nice place - in many ways, like Va.
Tansi..as the Cree says...great to hear...you know that if people trace their history...you just never know..if there is an Indian hiding in the wood pile...
Thanks for the welcome. I'm convinced knife nuts are all super nice people. Everyone at the bladeshow and here at iknife has been super. Not sure I responded correctly to the oil stain discussion. Comment/reply at top and bottom of page? I'm confused-but that isn't anything new-actually I think it's become the norm!
I don't get on here verymuch but recently retired again and may have more time. I like to show my work and put out some pics once in a while. Have been doing this for about 20 years, saw Stan Shaw's work at the Blade Show in 1991 and got hooked. Thanks for looking! God Bless
