Thank you for the kind comments on my photos! Yes the thumb holes work just as well as thumb-studs but take some getting used to if you have always used the latter a lot. I tried to make my pictures more artsy which is where the weird angles come from! Feel free to use any of my ideas.
rusty, thanks for kind words. i love to make sowbellys, toenails, swellcenters. they are so big and impressive. i like your pictures, nice knives. a little carbon steel and a piece of stag and i am happy. jeff
Morning Rusty - I can't wait to recive them. One is a AAPK Club knife - Stockman, 440c , and Ebony scales its a bute. Then a Russlock out of the Limited Edition Commemorative set. Have a good one - later
Rusty, i noticed from your photos the wood scales like my Case knives. I also noticed you have a lot more wood Case! that are great! Nice Collection! Wellcome aboard.... This is a great forum and great people!
I use to ride Harley's, and I met some of the greatest folks... It's the same in the knife family, most all are great, honest, "home-folk"
One of these days I'm going to get a couple of those five-blade trappers and filework them, just to see how they turn out.I didn;t notice them in the Smoky mountain catalog.
Rusty,
Do they call the five-blade trapper "the Beast"? Case had a peanut out some years back called the Beast.I always intended to filework one just for fun but never got around to it.The trapper is a bigger "canvas" to work on.I will try to get some time to post pics of some of my work ASAP. The hliday has put me behind and wore me out.
Tom
Thanks for the comment on a couple of my knives. I need to work harder to get to your level of photos. All are superb and a very diverse collectioon of knives all of which are beautiful. Thanks again...Jim
I welcome your friendship. The pictures that I have posted are of items that I have displayed in my home office. One of these days I will post some more of my collection, the majority of which is Case. One of my favorite patterns is the "muskrat' and I have selectively added other makers muskrats to it as well as the "Scout/Utility" pattern. Needless to say I like all knives, the older ones in good shape the most. They are getting harder & harder to find, especially at a reasonable price.
I just posted the price quotes from GEC for the custom black buffalo horn #36 Sunfish. I just need you to reconfirm that you still want one, or more, now that we have a firm price quote.
You can check out all the latest info I posted on the GEC Group page and let me know there.
Hi Rusty..Thank you for the comments on my knives & pictures but thre picture quality is lacking to yours. You have a very excellent group of knives posted. I noticed some muskrats. One of these days I will post some. This is one of my favorite patterns.
I spent most of my life in the wheat and cow country of Montana. When I worked for the railroad I had an opportunity to transfer out to the coal line in Thunder Basin. Didn't do it and always wished I had, but that's "hind sight". Two years ago, when we had one of those "once in ten years" winters I decided to try Arizona. I got a warm climate, but it sure isn't "home". If I could find a little place up around the Sundance/Newcastle country I'd be back in a minute.
Good to hear from you. Hope you're enjoying a bit of Springtime up there.
Hi Rusty, had a look again at your pics and saw what you mean by problems with the ones with the lace and white marble ground,You seem to have solved the problems as proven by the shot of the knife on the maple (?) leaves. Beautiful, you're the man. Thanks for the photography lesson.
Thanks for your comments on my latest GEC's sir. You have quite a collection too and your photography is superb! Your lineup of GEC sunfish is pretty awesome. Also like the Mountaineers Are Always Free etched knives being that I am a WVU grad. Like the Bulldogs too. Great work on displaying your collection!!!
Thanks Rusty, They're a start. I have high hopes of getting some better pics. taken to posted of some others. You on the other hand take some great pics. I can only hope for such a shoot. My son gave me another setting suggestion to try so, I'll see.
Congratulations on being a "Featured Member." I really like the photos of your knives. I may have to steal some of your ideas. I especially like some of the critters that you pose with your knives.
Hi Rusty....Thanks for the comments on the damascus hunter and chef knife. Both of these blades came from Alabama Damascus. The chef blade is from a 5100 alloy material and based on the effort & time it took to get it polished and after completion, sharpening it to my satisfaction, leads me to believe it would be a good material for a field knife as well.

They have and deserve a great following especially for the "exclusives".
I have more comments on my photo of the Case Easter Canoe from Shepherd Hills than I do any other knife.
Good Man!
