I am an old Cajun hunter and fisherman. I live near Atchafalaya Basin where I do all my hunting and fishing. I raise Feist squirrel dogs and beagles. I also raise two granddaughters, ages 16 and 19. I am a user/collecter of knives. I am retired and have plenty of time to use knives. I love to cook all that Cajun food.
Laissez les bon temp rouler!
Robert, Congrats on that great mess of fish. You sure did better than we did in the River.Wish I could have been there with you, and esp. now to help you eat those fine looking fish. I guess the Bayou rocks. I have fished Toledo Bend and we got over in the Lousiana side - great place.
Cool Rob. Let me know and I'll get to drawing something out. Also, I really like it when my knives fit the hands of my customers well. So take a good look at your hands and consider what kind of handle you'd like. I'd love to tailor the size of the handle to your hand size.
I can do that no problem Rob. I have to check if the last piece of farriers rasp is long enough. But if not I might be able to forge it up to the right length.
Also I've been thinking about trying a coffin handle so the timing is pretty good.
Thanks Robert for all the nice comments on my knives---you have a Great collection your self----Love the pic with the Squirrls and shot gun shells --too cool
That is me...I stood up with gun shoot at target field I love .375 magnum. myself enjoy with this.. this my hearing biker group at the camping in PA in around 7 years ago. This handgun is not mine. Belong to Biker woman who is owner handgun .375 magnum. She did allow me try her handgun. it was very powerful magnum. i have no problem and handle with .375 Magnum. I fell in love with beaty gun. But I don't remember which the brand name of gun is colts or Smith & Wesson.
It's coming along nicely. I'll give it a Scotchbright finish combined with an acid etch. Should be a nice working finish. Next up I'll be drilling holes and getting it ready for heat treat,
Here's a nice little progress shot for you Rob. It's ready for heat treat. Drilled 3 small holes for pins, gave it a nice scotchbrite fine finish. Also drilled bunch of bigger holes for weight saving. The weight is a LOT nicer now in the hand.
I just finished two more blades for heat treat so I'll get this one in the oven along with the other ones this week :-)
Robert, I don't know who to send it to yet. I have sent messages to the top two winners to have them make their selection, but so far they haven't replied. If they don't within the next couple of days, I will let Ken Spielvogel go ahead and choose his. He came in third and has already told me that he has picked three choices. So if they don't reply soon I will let Ken pick his first.

Robert, I really liked your fixed blades. I just run across the photo of them a few minutes ago. They look nice but they are sure good users also!! Hope you are doing well.

Robert, some input is always nice. What kind of blade would you like? Droppoint? Clippoint? Wharncliffe?, Belly? No belly? You let me know.
Also, what kind of handle would you like on it?

9" total right? Flat grind?

Some more questions. 9"overall, 4" handle? How long would you like the handle to be?
Only ebony I have left is Mun ebony which isn't black. But it's a very nice dark brown. You can see it on this knife:
Would that be ok?

Hey Rob, I started sketching for ya.
How's this? It's 9"overall with the handle just under that length and the blade just over.
What do you think? Any tweaks you'd like to see to the design are more than welcome. Better now than after I've started grinding :-)

Definately not a Tanto Rob. I never saw the point of those anyway. This wide it should make a nice little skinning blade.

Doing good. Heat treatment is all done. I'm ready to start on the handle scales. So we'll need to decide what you'd like me to use for that.
If you want dark, I have some nice Dark brown ebony that should work very nicely.
