How long have you collected knives?
21- 25 years
Favorite Kind of Knives
Whittlers, especially CASE "Seahorse",
and the Great Eastern "Gippetto" Whittlers.
I also like other utilitarian frames and whatever appeals to me at the time.
Hey J.J. I'd sure love to chat with you by phone soon if you're interested. Sounds like we have a lot in common...I have a cell phone with unlimited time so would love to call you and choot the chit!! 2 old guys enjoying our knives and gun shows!!! I have a show this weekend.. 1-23 and 1 24 in Tulsa. 2nd of the yr. If I do as well at this one as I did in the first one, I'll be a happy camper!!!!! Let me hear from you
Thanks for the welcome. I realize that I'm not really a knife collector, or else I'm am one who only collects the Imperial et al knives with the car key as a blade. If any one out there knows about them, I'd like to here from you Pete
Thanks to all who have given a warm welcome to me. I am actually a jeweler, but in my shop I buy interesting old things from time to time (not as often as I'd like). Sometimes I don't know what it is I'm buying, so collective knowledge is always good.
hey mr smith just got joined up looks like you sent me a message but i just cant seem to find it. just wanted to say hey that was some welcome for a newbe like me . i seen you belong to a queen club,i have a new queen single blade that has no snap closing, but plenty when opening. any suggestions. thank you steve
I wish kershaw had those bags in black leather! that would be real cool, if anybody know where I can get some cool knife bags in black leather Id buy them or how about a harley davidson knife bag!!!! all black leather!!!
I've gifted a # of the lockback whittlers as first knives for kids. Nieces , nephews , friends kids , ... , a bunch of 'em. Figuring .. 1/3 will get lost .. another 1/3 broken .. 1/3 get used , 'n pretty hard. The lockback adds a nice measure of safety in a first knife ..&.. they're cheap as dirt. Their temper is a bit on the brittle side , though.
.
Anyway .. Frost .. don't we ALL have 1 or 2 .. or 3 .... or 4 .............
Hey JJ .. I've been pleased enough with the 3K grit diamond whetstones that I've now added a 6" X 6" version & a 9" X 3.14" unit. I'll use the 6" X 6" for a month or so & then give you a heads up whether the additional area is really that useful. @ 14.39 .. I'll get my $ worth. It's whether or not the 6" X 6" surface will actually be as useful as I anticipate. Anyway .. will let you know after a month or so of use. Enjoy .. Dale.
Yeah .. I've been VERY pleased w/ the 3K diamond stones. For general use ..my work EDCs.. I've no need to break out the hard arkansas I'd been using for 30+ yrs. Prior to the 3K .. the finest I had was EZE-LAP's "Super Fine" @ 1200 grit. It simply left too jagged of an edge for me. A couple passes on the hard arkansas took care of that. Now .. with the 3K grit .. and having the surface break down a bit w/ use .. I'm just fine with the result. I just purchased the larger 6" X 6" because of the price & the very occasional desire for a larger surface .. i.e. large/wide wood chisels & such.
