Welcome to iKC! We don't live too awful far apart. I live in Athens, AL, just about 15 miles south of the TN state line on I-65. And Case is my favorite brand too.
Hi Ricky, While i have not carried every knife in my collection i have carried at least one or two of every pattern for some time for a period of time. For instance I haven't carried my Marlin spike knife with the scrimshaw work for more than a day but I have carried the red jigged bone for a couple months at one time (and used it as a EDC back pocket carry) I carried a couple of the five inch tooth picks and then decided to pick up the entire collection because I liked them. Same goes with my sowbellies.
Like many people I think the Rough Riders make great every day carries but they also look great and priced low enough that you can buy multiples. I tend to buy them from SMKW primarily because I know when I buy from them I can return any defective house brand with no questions asked. Yes I have had a few problem rough riders. And in both case SMKW the knife was under $10. SMKW said keep the bad knife and they sent out a replacement. They told me if the replacement was also bad, then I should return both for a refund (to include the shipping charges to and from) It is hard to be that kind of guarantee. In the case of both knives the very tip of the blade was ever so slightly bent. I felt guilty about taking the new knife as the ones with the slightly bent blade went onto be carried and used.
Thanks Ricky for the nice comment on the Mamoth Ivory Rat Trapper---and yes Case has done a lot of different Patterns in Mamoth Ivory and Mamoth Tooth also.
Reminds me of the" corn knife" I used as a boy on the farm. I whacked some serious weeds and brush with that baby !! Please don't use Quint's photo as an advertisement for IKC, though-- That manaical look in his eye would scare off every potential new member fo miles around !! LOL
You're welcome, my friend! And, hey! I just take pics of my knives and then play with the photos in Adobe Photoshop until something I like comes out. That's how I've learned to make all of my greeting cards. It's been a fun process!
Thanks Rick, glad you saw my website. I'm always trying to update it with more info and photos. Right now I am looking at all the NKCA magazines from 1977 thru 1997.
