Gil Hibben 2011 Eclipse Bowie Gold and Damacus

Ok folks, this the top of the line for my collection. The Gil Hibben 2011 Eclipse Bowie with a gold handle and a extremely long and sturdy Damascus blade. This one cost me a bundle but it is the longest, heaviest and most beautiful blade that I now own. I has no sheath, but cam with a wood mounting back plate. I love this blade so much, I think I will look for a sheath for it. If anyone has an idea where I can get a sheath for this blade, please send me a link!

Comment by Steve Scheuerman (Manx) on November 27, 2014 at 6:10: Kevin...I just looked up the specs of your knife, and alas, it seems like United Cutlery has yet again gone to the cheap side. Previously, all Gold Edition Hibbens had a CoA, a medallion and a stamped serial number with matching numbers. The gold accents were 24k plated, and limited numbers made. This made the knives quite collectible. It seems that once the original United Cutlery went out of business, the new owners decided to drop this practice. I have 7 of the Gold Editions, and all but one came fully certified and with the actual gold accents. I had hoped that the one was just a mistake or just a "that year" thing, but it looks like the rest of the Golds will be the brass and non-certified. A shame. This is not to say it is not going to increase in price...it is still part of a large set. But with these changes, it just won't be as desirable to collectors as a single piece. But with the limited run, I would fully expect it to come close to doubling in value for a mint knife.

It doesn't contain any gold, according to the information that came with the blade. It is only 1 of 1000 made, so does it increase to collectors?

And the resale value on the Gold Edition knives goes up very quickly. Many of my Gold Editions are now worth over $500 each. But that is in unused condition. Of course its your call as to what you do with your knives, I just thought I'd give you a heads-up. It's on my list as an addition to my collection...a great looking piece. Congrats!

Yes thsi blade is totally awesome! I just bought a sheath from Amazon that will fit it perfect. Not that I will be carrying it around with me, but better than a wall mounted plack which is the only way it came. This no knife won't fit into my safes so, i guess with the sheath, I will just put it under my bed. That way if anyone comes in they will be in BIG trouble.
