Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I just watched a you-tube video about Victorinox, Swiss Army Knives.  In the video, they mention that the biggest hurdle the company had to overcome was when sales dropped by almost 30%.  In order to survive the company had to branch out and start making/branding  watches, perfume, luggage, etc. It was impossible to stay in business just selling knives.

So I'm wondering how much impact 9/11 had on the American knife industry. Did this cause companies to fail and force production overseas?   Are we blaming the global market unfairly when we should be looking at airport security and tougher knife laws?

Just thinking out loud.

I wanted to respond Tobias because I think the proliferation of knife companies, the economic downturn worldwide and the fact that as gas and other commodities price rose, it caused knives, which for the most part are used as collectibles, fall away from favor. People are not buying as many knives.

Unless you are selling guns, if you are a knife company or dealer, better find something else to supplement your income. Will it come back? Of course, the only question is when?

I agree with Steve. It's the economy. In my humble opinion, until politics change in Washington, we stay in this mess.
