"Well Taiwan, actually.  Though a Japanese colony until 1945.  Cool idea!  Japanese knives are pretty easy to get here.  I was thinking one day I should get myself to the Seki cutlery festival."

A UK friend of mine turned me on to his favorite "propelling" pencil a couple of years ago.  So I got one.  It's a Yard-o-led Diplomat in sterling silver, this one made in 1948.
