I agree. There's sooo much to learn and know about knives that there's ALWAYS something new to learn just about everyday.  Plus, there's so much to forget it's nice to have people refresh one's memory.......in a nice way. Besides, we're Blade-Brothers in Arms, we should act like family.

We are "FAMILY", here at iKC.

I agree Pat. I've been involved in a number of different forums for years for various different hobbies.  Some people seem to use forums to boost their egos and/or show how "manly" they are. Maybe they didn't get enough hugs growing up? LOL!

IKC is honestly the best online community I have ever been a part of.

I don't know what it is, but there seems to be an aura of elitism surrounding a lot of online communities these days, especially message boards/forums. On boards like that, there always seems to be someone lurking and waiting to jump in and disagree or flame a person simply because their views don't fit with their own and try to get something stirred up. It's very sad and, in my opinion, very juvenile.

IKC is void of all of that and I'm very proud to be a part of such a friendly community. I love this place. It feels like home.

My thoughts exactly Pat

Watching this the last week has made me very proud of the IKC community.  Welcome to the family Dale

Got a link to the BF thread in question?

I could not find it

They have new rules over there where registred customers are not allowed to ask values

If your a knife collector===>

You should not have to ask for value

It's too subjective

Do a search on "value" here on iKC and BF, to see what I mean

A value placed by Bill Gates would be different than a value placed by the local bum, right? ;)

Here is a tip===>

COMPLETED listings on EBAY

That is the closest you are gonna get to a "fair market value"...

And that is what they would have told you to do on BF...BTW

Sad sometimes how others are threatened by ones knowledge...Those on blade forums elsewhere are fearful to share.

so they tend to be rude or just passe' about subjects uninterested to them.

Hi.  I joined Bladeforums a couple of weeks ago.  I have not had a bad experience there, but I certainly did not get the warm welcome there that I got here.  I just joined iKnife Collector today and I've had about six people personally welcome me.  Not some automated reply bot.  I really like it here.

Glad to have you aboard.  I'm a ghost on Blade Forum.  Get stuff in archive format and look at it when I'm bored.

Thanks!  I've noticed that there's a much friendlier environment here.

I did buy a ZT 0550 from a new dealer there for $165.00 yesterday, though. ;-)

There is interesting reading on BladeForums ,just they don't do Friendly. That's okay by me there is enough Friendly here !!

Content AND friendly here!  I like AND better!

Doug, I was going to say, toughen up and grow a spine but thought you might mistake my bad humor for a personal attack.  we all have different levels of experience and knowledge on various topics.  The only way you grow in the hobby is by asking questions.

No one is forcing anyone to answer a question or even read a question. There is no reason to belittle a person or attack a person for trying to learn.  Some people are just small minded dweebs who can only feel good by attacking anonymously over the internet.

Differences of opinions are great and can be quite stimulating by personal attacks just suck the life out of discussion groups.  If you can't find a group devoted to Balisongs on this list, try the Gerneral Discussion Group, Box Full of Knives, aor Ask Steve Koontz.

"I just got jumped on by somebody on "bladeforums" for asking what a balisong knife is worth ! what a bunch of bunk! anybody else have problems there? Im canceling my membership to bladeforums.com."

BladeForums requires a paid membership in order to sell knives.  The membership fees help defray the costs of maintaining the site.  Too many instances were found of non-paying members working around that requirement by asking a valuation question, then privately contacting anyone who showed interest.  As a result, BladeForums has a posted rule requiring a paid membership in order to ask a valuation question.

I'm certain you will have no such problems posting your questions on iknifecollector.  As many before have said, it's a well-run friendly site.  And there is no rule against asking questions of valuation.
