CJS Experiment Knife

i bought some steel and decided to grind out my own blades... this is what i came up with. full tang with a choil. measures 6 1/4 long

its finished! i am calling it the CJS Ironclad! it doesnt much resemble the knife in these pictures. the design has changed dramatically for the better! i have learned a lot since this knife, and have taken that knowledge and compiled it into the Ironclad. take a look at how it turned out... http://iknifecollector.ning.com/photo/albums/cjs-ironclad

thanks for your comments guys! yes Wako, it does kinda resemble a Hiker. i do really like that blade, and what Kyley has done with it. i did however want to make it a little different, as you have noticed. you can see in the Picture 4 http://www.iknifecollector.com/photo/cjs-experiment-4?context=album... the before and after results of grinding the blade. i am still new to the stockremoval process, but it still came out great!

Heat treating, not-withstanding, what you've done with the blade sure looks promising. Once you get it polished and handeled, then second guess yourself. Finish one up and we'll talk about price...

(Got any more natural smooth bone?)

i am looking forward to seeing the finished product too! lol! i would love to go into production with this! thats what the "experiment" is all about. i want to know if i CAN even do it, if its a good final product.. and if people want it!!

thanks guys! i bought some 1095. i am going to make a homemade forge for heat treating. probably a brake drum forge. ive been watching a lot of YouTube vids on heat treating, still have to gather tools and supplies.

Dale.. i will keep you all informed of my progress! i am working on this inbetween my other knives. so may be a while before its done
