inexpensive-check!  ordinary/nice-check!  different scales for each in the batch-check!  makes sense to me, using different materials per batch.  thanks for sharing these greg.  admire your work...

Tim - they all regular materials, nothing special. There are two ideas behind them. Actually - three. 1-there is no point to put something expencive on $200.00 working knife. 2-I like to use ordinary things and yet make them look nice.3-I make knives in batches, but I do not like to use the same handles in the same batch. Specially -on the same model in the same batch

like your different choice of materials greg.  not sure if I have any knives with these materials though.  would you call these just regular materials, or would you refer to these scales as unique?  the 4th one, lepardwood with color catches my attention most.

Left to right-orange/black home made paper micarta (experiment, bought on ebay), Second k ife - brown and olive xanvas micarta they both are 1/8 thick, so I epoxy them tofether - will see how it comes up. Third knife - desert ironwood, fourth - lepardwood stabilized with color, fifth - maroon tight canvas micarta
