iKC Member in Need Request #7 - Camillus Marine Combat Knife

The Need

Similar to my first request, please take a look at this and the other postings I have similar to this one and share with me what you know about it. My goal is to use the information you provide to properly market and sell these knives to get a reasonable sale price while letting the buyer enjoy the full value of the piece.

Camillus Marine Combat – What I Think to be True

This is what I believe to be true so far about this knife:

  • Camillus model CM-5684
  • 7” blade; black phosphate coated
  • No date on pommel
  • This knife is stamped Camillus, New York, USA only on obverse tang
  • Knife purchased between 1984 and 1992

What I want to Know

Based on the bullet info above and judging the best you can from the photos, I would like to know the following:

  • Is the CM-5684 a correct model number for this knife?
  • Estimate year of knife manufacture
  • Should I send it to Camillus for refurb?
  • What, in your opinion, is the value of the knife?
  • What, in your opinion, is a good sale price?

Please feel free to ask me questions, request additional photos, or whatever in order to assist you in your evaluations. Please also feel free to correct my understandings with additional facts, as I want the best info I can get to support the sale.

Thank you for your comments and assistance – it is greatly appreciated!

Actually while everyone calls this the  Marine Corp knife it is actually the  Mk II fighting knife.  It's original military desination was Knife,  1219C2.

The Camillus pattern number is indeed 5684.  (the Pilot knife was a Camillus # 1009)   It is not always stamped on the knife.

The new Camillus probably couldn't do much to refurbish it.  The age is going to be hard to determine.  The condition is probably all that matters because this is an original pre 2007 Camillus.  It will go for $75-$100 every day of the week on Ebay.  Again I'd lean toward the higher end of that scale due to the condition of the knife and sheath.

Boom! There's the Tobias I know! Perfect - great info for me, thank you. It's always about the details...and you have provided great details for me here. Combined with what I know to be true as well, I should be able to put together a nice provenance for this piece - Thank you! I am most grateful!
