Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread asking folks to show a Buck knife photo or two. I like just about anything made by Buck. But, am drawn to the Gold etch art knives and love stag handles.

No more work hours for me.  I retired in Nov. of 2012.  I was fortunate to end my 44 year work career without any injuries.  The last 25 with TVA where I routinely connected test equipment to up to 600 volts hot.  The twelve years before that I was a field engineer with an electrical contractor building nuclear and coal burning power plants.

BTW Danny is four today.

I did not realize the back side of that Buck was Black.  I like it!

A Buck 110 .. Double Action
I'd wanted one of these for a very long time !!!

Here's a knife that just magically appeared on my doorstep today. A Camillus-made, pre-1986 Buck #317 Trail Blazer. This was obtained in a practice and tradition of many knife collectors; it was an anonymous gift.

I believe this is a pre 1980 knife, as it appears to have carbon springs, and from what I've read Buck/Camillus switched over to SS springs by around 1980.

Whatever it's age, it fills a space in my Camillus-made 300 series collection. Other than SFO's, (special factory orders), I have only two models left to complete my collection of a "basic" set of that series; #315 Yachtsman, and a #321 Bird Knife. This is a big 'ol knife, 5 1/4" closed, quite a handful, but a real beauty....they just don't make 'em like this anymore, (literally). The donor of this knife will remain anonymous, but obviously I appreciate the gift very much.

Both my "Dymondwood" and Black Phenolic Buck 120's

Fresh finds. A Camillus-made #303, probably from the 70's, and a #105. Paid $8 for the #105, and $7.50 for the #303. The 105 has a broken handle, so I'll be sending that back to Buck to have a new handle installed, (thanks to their "Forever Warranty"). The sheath needs a snap,  that will go for a $5 repair at the local leather shop, so when all is said and done I'll have less than $20 invested in that knife. I count that as a win. The CC-made #303 is in good condition, and will be a "spare" in my CC-made 300 collection. All in all a good day at the local swap meet.

Here's one you don't see very often. Buck #331 Grandaddy Barlow, 5" closed in Black Sawcut Delrin. Made for Buck by Camillus in 1999 for the SMKW catalog. manged to find this one new in the box. They also made versions in Yellow Sawcut Delrin and a version with jigged handles, (not sure of the material on those).

Cool knife, kinda rare. Enjoy!

I have a couple of new Buck's in hand, (at least new to me), and another couple on the way. New digi camera finally arrives tomorrow, (to replace the one I ran through a washer....long story), so I'll finally be able to post photos of my newest acquisitions, (I hope). Stay tuned.

New camera arrived, still learning it's ropes but it seems to do the job. Just glad to be able to upload photos again. I'll be sure to avoid washing machines with this one.

Here is my recently obtained 1994 Buck #314 full sized Trapper w/ Black Sawcut Delrin handles, manufactured in the Buck factory, (which means it has heat treated steel). I love the hollow ground blades on this knife, and I am more than impressed with the fit & finish; equal to Camillus-made models IMHO, (though I cannot say that about more recent Buck factory-made slip joints that I have seen, which were a bit "sloppy" in my opinion). I'll include some side by side comparison photos between the #314 & my CC-made #311 Slimline Trapper, (flat grounds blades, CC metal; no Buck heat treatment).

The #314 is not seen for sale that often, and when you do see one it is usually a custom knife with exotic handles. This knife was the first one I've seen for sale in a "stock" configuration, (so I snagged it). Happy to have it, it is currently my daily choice for EDC and I think it will remain so for awhile; lovin' it.

Below: 2015 Buck Pathfinder fixed blade, (5" modified clip blade; w/ Buck heat treating of course).

I also recently received a replacement for the #105 Pathfinder I posted photos of above which had a broken handle. Buck sent me a new 2015 version as a replacement, stating on the invoice that they "cannot repair fixed blade handles". I would have preferred to keep the original blade, (pre 1986), but pre '86 fixed blades of this model are not particularly collectible, so I'm satisfied to have a spanking new version. It fits well into the original sheath, which differs slightly from the new sheaths, but that's fine with me. With the original $8 cost of the knife at a flea market, postage and a minor repair of the sheath at the local leather shop, (replaced the snap), I have less than $15 into this knife. I'll take it!!

Christmas came early for me it seems. Happy holidays to all of you!
