Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

This knife has me totally baffled. I have a lot of mother of pearl handled knives but this knife displays a very "smoky" appearance that I don't think is natural. There is no apparent sharpening of the blades which have a very strong snap and no identification marks of any kind. Also, the blades appear to be narrower than a typical knife of this style. Any ideas fellows? Thank again for your helpful responses and information on my past posts.

No guesses on my part but I did want to comment. I have seen this smokey mother of pear before but my collection does'nt have one. I have not seen blades like yours, I think it is very unusual.

I cannot tell about the pearl, might be a "black lip" pearl but that's difficult to tell without seeing it in person.

The blades are narrow because they have been ground down severely from their original shape.  If you look at the tang, you can see what I am talking about.  I'm guessing this is an older knife that has been ground down, polished and rehandled.  The scales look pretty nice tho!

Looks like Blacklip Mother of Pearl to me.

A natural variant of MOP.

Based on the tang and the pull this is a re grind and black lip is what I would suggest also for the handle material.  When closed do the blades seat all the way without being tip up?  MOP is not an easy handle to work with so I am thinking the blades seat the way they should and this is likely a very well done modification of an older knife
