Donnie did confirm for me it is Osage Orange.  One of the best things about this material is that it is good to go without being stablized, because it is so dense

Osage orange is so pretty when finished out ..and.. it just gets better with time. i.e. it has a tendency to become "richer" with exposure to UV .. it will become a deeper darker orange-ish brown.

Also .. a very hard & dense wood.

It will withstand some serious abuse !!!
