8.65 .. in your mailbox. Shipping 2~3 weeks.

9.86 .. to your mailbox .. shipping 2~3 weeks.

.

ALL .. vendors have stopped shipping with batteries .. requirement of their shipping service.

I added one of those to my toolbox within the last two weeks!

I decided using a good old Stanley tape, and an 18 inch stainless steel ruler with both inches and centimeter/millimeter graduations down to half millimeter could use some help from a little more accuracy. And help my aging eyes!

Thanks for links, those prices are good. Better than Harbor Freight and ones I was looking at on amazon

Having been a machinist for many years, I have used calipers for a long time. I have several dial calipers and never needed the digital type. Now that a lot of US industries have started going to metric measurement, it has become necessary for most machinists to start using the digital ones. Where I work, we have a mix of blue prints (some dimensioned in SAE and others in metric. Those are some very reasonable prices.

I wish I had even a small fraction of your machining skills Jeremy. I grew up with metric. We actually had SAE, but converted when I was in elementary school, and even now having been in the US for almost 18 years, metric makes much more sense to me. Multiples of 10 are really easy.

One time my wife wanted to make bread in a home bread machine. For whatever reason, there was no measuring system for the exact amount of water we needed. I told her no problem, bring out your kitchen scale that measures in grams. 1 liter of water is 1kg. You want e.g. 750ml water, weigh 750 grams.

Hard to beat a good set of calipers. I'm old school and still use my Mitoyos (sp) I've had for many years. Makes resorting those micro drill bits and pin material a lot easier. Especially helpful with making the miniature knives.
