How Many Knives Do You Buy in a "Normal" Year; How about this Year?

Here we are at the midway point of the year or so. Buy the usual amount of knives this year? Or are the rising prices and the pressing economic crunch just too much. Has it affected you and what has it caused you to do? Buy Smarter, Buy Less, Pick Up Great Bargains?

I DON'T KNOW.  IHAVE STARTED A NEW HABIT OF GOING TO THRIFT STORES AND RUMMAGING THRU THEIR KITCHEN KNIVES FOR SPECIAL KNIVES.  I CONSENTRATE ON USA, GERMANY, ENGLAND,(NO CHINESE)  WITH FULL TANGS. THESE KNIVES USUALLY GO FOR LESS THAN A DOLLAR.   I HAVE ALSO P[CKED UP SOME BARGAINS  (I THINK) AT GARAGE/ESTATE SALES:

                                        ontario pilots survival knife

marine corp pocket knife(can opener says pat pending)

                                            Russian fixed blade (maybe)

ONE OF THE KITCHEN KNIVES I GOT WAS A CRAFTSMAN BREAD KNIFE, ANOTHER WAS A STEAK KNIFE FROM RUTH'S CRISP STEAK HOUSE. I STILL KEEP LOOKING.

I ALSO PICKED UP A COUPLE OF MULTI TOOLS AT LEATHERMAN'S STORE IN PORTLAND.  ONE OF THEIR

EMPOYEES SAID THEY ARE GOING CHINESE(OR HAVE ALREADY GONE).  WHAT A BUMMER!!

Thank you Dennis, I absolutely love to search out bargains in a variety of place including auctions. Interesting point on kitchen knives,as I have to say I don't know much about them. Wonder what best brands are there?

You got me curious, so I went through my list and counted 17 knives so far this year.  That makes 1.7 knives per month.  Five came from Ebay, and the rest from other internet sources.   However, I really should be saving more for retirement, so I might slow down on collecting now.  I like the idea of the thrift stores though.
Since I got back into collecting, Oh, let's see.....I'm averaging about five knives a month.
I dont think I want to know.  Some months 2 some months 6
I would say between 50 to 100 this year. I'm not going to be buying much the rest of the year. Probably just some club knifes that I'm a member of.

I have bought about 60 Knives so far this year. I am slowing down some now though. I get on a binge and can't quit, and then I get off the wagon for awhile and just look.

My budget tends to float around $80 a month

I would guestimate in the average year the break down is:

Knives over $50 - about 3

Knives under $50 - about -30

However, I've managed to land some really good ebay deals so I'm way over what I normally buy.

And right now I'm debating on going to Rep Week in October. That would cost me about $400 for the week-end and leave me with about $200 to spend on knives. Or I could just stay home, watch KnivesLive, wait  and blow around $300-$500 on knives!

I buy 5 to 10 knives a month. Some I keep and some I sell to guys that I work with. I have even been known to buy back knives I've sold. We are fixing to go on vacation next week. We are heading back up to Missouri to buy more knives.

LOL...I dont want to know

I don't want my wife to know. lol

Thank goodness I'm married to pretty much a knifeaholic too. Well, at least she's good at enabling.
