I have a KA BAR hunting knife the company told me was produced between 1930 and 1940. Is there anyone that can tell me any more about my pattern x10137? Beth at KA BAR said the x was because they didn't know the designation for the celluloid handle.

KA-BAR is another company we will study in more detail next week for our online chat. The story of KA BAR March 28th. There numbering system is kind of all over the map . Jim, is there any name shown or other marking on the knife. I assume it is a fixed blade. Any other info you can provide, picture would help us too.

Picture and marking would certainly help

The pictures are located on my page.

OK I see them now Jim. The only other bit of info I can give you is about the X. It did stand for White celluloid The time frame is right that you got from KA BAR. I don't have a value for it though.  What else are you trying to find out about it?

Thank you Steve. I have enjoyed it for many years and now hope to pass it along to a KA-BAR collector or anyone who likes it so they may enjoy it for a while. We are after all just caretakers of these treasures until the the next person chooses to enjoy them.
