Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi Folks, I am new to the forum and was wondering about a knife I came across the other day and was looking for a little help identifying it. I looked everywhere and came up with nothing. Maybe the knife gurus can help! Looks like bone or horn handle. On the blade is a star (sheriffs style) with "PF" in the center and at the base just above the handle is a triangle. Overall length is 16 1/2" with the blade length of 11". At the handle the knife blade is about 1 3/4" wide and widens out to 5". Hopefully my pictures show up. Any help would be appreciated!

Michael, interesting knife. I do have some questions:

  • Where did the knife come from? I am looking for anything that would point me to where it originated.
  • How did you come to get this knife? Given, found, Flea market find?
  • Can you supply any other fact surround the knife for us?

Thank you and let's see if we can help you!

It would appear to be an antique cleaver? I am not familiar with the markings, though. It's certainly an interesting piece. I believe that the hook on the end of the handle might be a hand guard? But I'm really just guessing. Hopefully someone with knowledge of this type of cutlery will chime in with more than just the speculation that I have offered.

I actually found this while helping a friend clean out a house. I buy and sell antiques on the side and thought this looked pretty interesting. In the same house I found a Universal L.F. & C Landers, Ferry & Clark 20" Chefs knife as well. This one looked different though. Not meat cleaver like I guess. I thought maybe it might some early Parker Frost. Its the only name I could come up with. I thought at first the back was cut out on purpose but now I think that it may have just been broken. I seem to come up with a wide variety of knives from time to time but this was new to me. Thanks for helping me out with this one!

It's probably not Parker frost although I can understand trying to line up the initials. It does have a homemade look to it but that stamp suggests it was a blade of some kind.

I didn't think it was Parker Frost but didn't know too much history of the company. Just making letters match... I tried looking up machetes as well in pictures and even beet type knives. Usually I can come up with something but not this time.

Close very close...
