In days gone by, folks used knives everyday and 'bout all day long. Knives were used for cleaning freshly caught fish for dinner, opening a can of beans to cook on the open fire, cutting rope and leather straps, to passing the time by whittling on a stick.

My how times have changed.

So, let me ask you- the last time you used your knife, what did you use it for?

Had my GE stag toenail with me today. Only had one chance to wield it. I cut the tape off a box I got in the mail of an eBay purchase containing a 100 year old Funsten Brothers catalog that pictured an elephant toenail!
I might as well join this one too if you will have me. This morning I used my current edc a crkt m series 21/12 to open a box of knives just ordered to have some inventory on hand. I also joined the Toenail club so might keep some those for myself. I just got the cheapies, but they are kind of cool.
I used mine not quite an hour ago to open a package I received at work. I work in an office, but I tend to get quite a few packages that's great because it lets me use my knife at least a few times throughout the day.

Though I'm young, I can see what you mean with your post. I often sit in the sun and whittle a stick while BBQ'n or just relaxing.
Lol I last used my knife to open a package containing another knife i had bought :)
I used my knife to cut the ends of some paracord, which I promptly braided into a bracelet. Gotta feed that muscle memory.

Though in terms of difficulty, I don't think it is anything like whittling a peach pit basket...

:D
i use my knife all day at work opening box thats just my normal knife i use my multy-tool for lots of other things
When I worked as a graphic designer I would create custom business cards for my customers. After I would do everything from ordering them from a third party vendor to printing them in house and cutting them by hand with a large paper cutter. After I finished their business cards, I would call them to let them know that their business cards were ready. Before they would pick up the cards I would put their cards in a small cardboard box and seal it off with tape. I used my knife the most to cut that strip of tape so that I may present their cards to them. I thought that this was an appropriate way to present business cards to customers. It was sort of "old school" and I think they appreciated it.
Last time I used my knife was at work yesterday to open the box to some patio furniture that wouldn't fit in a customer's car.
Not for anything interesting just opening boxes. I carry an old (30 plus years) swiss army knife that was handed down to me. I use the screwdriver on it all the time on a door plate at work.
i use mine for every day chores. opening up boxes, cleaning my fingernails, scoring coal for my hookah, opening up the mail, and anything else that just so happens to be thrown my way. and thanks to the knife those curse'ed anti-theft, shrink wrapped packages are no longer an enemy to the consumer who honestly bought the damn item inside! *insert evil laughter here*
Anytime I buy a product, or receive mail, and cutting paracord. I also peel fruits daily and sometimes pick my teeth...
Speakin' of whittlin'... I have a dear friend in Texas who is a really good whittler. His name is Ed Olson. He's a Ford Man, a Case man, and a downright all around feller. Those of you in the WR Case Collectors Club know his work. Those of you who have the 2009 Case calendar see his work featured on the August page. It's a real piece of work. I have several pieces of his.
Oh... by the way. One of my Seahorsies is "Miss August" A 1st run red bone with scrolled shield.
