Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Ordered these in, fit right in with my flea market canoe find.  Boker Appaloosa,  I think the Canoe is a Appaloosa model it doesn't match very close.

They all appear to be fine Boker knives. Color may vary, from one knife to another, that's the way the dye colors them I guess.

Someone with more experience may have more info on this.

you could order 100 of each of these knives and none of the bone match up or all of it match up... its hit and miss.

their is so much now days when it comes to BOVINE{cow leg bone}  .. believe it or not i have read complaints about bone and it not holding its dye as far back as the WINTERBOTTOM BONE COMPANY. the company used to use AMERICAN BOVINE bone but opted out,i forget the exact date but I do have it.... he did this when USA companies started slaughtering their beef early. he was not at all impressed with the new bone and were talking 50+ years ago ....

bone, the dying process and all of it has so much more to do then just the bone and dye... everything from the animals diet, how it is treated/enviroment ...and of course how early it is slaughtered and then of course how long the bone is dried ectect.  like i said their is so much...

and if you want it i have the entire WINTERBOTTOM story on my PC.i just think its neat .like i said even 50+years ago he was such a BONE BRO... that he already knew their was a difference in the bone he worked with due to different laws.

YES ALL OF THIS COUNTS WHEN IT COMES TO HOW WELL THE BONE WILL HOLD THE DYE!

now if you want really want matching bone these days you want to work with someone who makes custom slabs for their knives.

i hope this wasnt to much...LOL!... whats funny is if we were to reverse some of our MASS PRODUCTION laws ....we would actually have better bone to work with. anyway this subject has been talked about plenty..GOOGLE IT UP!

Thanks Peter, I new someone would have more info on Bone and dye, than me. Great info. Good subject.

Brain, you keep them questions coming, that's what this place is all about. We have no limit, as to how many questions you can ask. All of this, will help everyone.

Thanks for the info guys.

Absolutely!
Keep asking and keep showing us your latest.

Appaloosa is one of my favorite bone dyes (I prefer the smooth).  What I like about it is that they are very rarely ever the same as the next one in the same batch.  Gives a bit of uniqueness in a manufactured knife.
