Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I am looking for information on a knife maker named McCarty.
There are a couple of makers I found, Zolan McCarty and
Harry McCarty, however there marks are different than on my
knife. Zolan's mark would be the closest.
Any information would be helpful thanks.

If this is in the wrong group please feel free to move or delete this file.

Thanks

know one- This IS a Zolan McCarty custom (Only one L in Zolan).  Zolan McCarty, like many, many other custom knife makers, changed their tang stamps over time, often many times. You can find his tang stamp made both horizontally and vertically on the blade, with or without the Z. , and some even with Thomaston, Georgia beneath the name. A very hi-quality knife made by a regarded knife maker who passed away several years ago. BTW, I have found several examples of Zolan's work with the same tang stamp as yours.

That is darned nice!

know one-FYI, Zolan's grandson, Chris English also makes custom knives, a skill he learned from Zolan. here is his website- His knives are also featured many places around the web and facebook.

http://www.zcustomknives.com/     If you go to the site, there is also phone contact information. He can probably give you more details on your knifes vintage and/or value. BTW, Zolan is not only highly regarded, but sometimes referred to as the best knife maker from Georgia ever !! Not saying those are my words, but words often seen around the web.

John,

That is exactly what I was thinking and I sent his grandson Chris an email today to ask if that was the case!

Thank you all very much for the replies. I am very happy to here that this knife was made by Zolan McCarty.

My pictures don't really do this knife justice. On the back of the knife it is engraved with 1-18, I don't know

if this is the first of eighteen knives or just one of eighteen, maybe it was made for an organization or group.

I like knowing a little history behind the knives, it makes the collection more interesting.

Again, thank you all very much for helping me.
