TVA in their Chattanooga office complex used to have a Company Store.  I bought this knife when I was there for a training class.  It was probably about 15 years ago.

Is there anything about it that might help to identify the maker?  I assume Solingen is not a company name.

I have several pocket knives i inherited frome my papa. Some of them have the sane Solingen Germany make on the blade. the only thing i could ever find is that the town of Solingen has been producing knives, swords, and other wepons for over 2000 years hope this help a little.

Well you are absolutely right, Solingen is the name of the German City with a fine reputation for quality knives, blades and steels. Looking through a few books to see if a pattern can match. I like the image of the stag and really like that bail.

Here is a  link to a photo of a knife made in Solingen. Different subject matter, but note the similarities: http://www.iknifecollector.com/photo/arnex-solingen

This knife was made by Arnex

Here is another link, this one to our Solingen Group which although does not have everyting I would like to see in it, it does give you some idea of the various names and associated stampings of a few of the great knife companies in Solingen.http://www.iknifecollector.com/group/solingen

Also hunting scenes were quite common on these German knives, so much so, that copies like this have been made: http://www.iknifecollector.com/photo/ac-oppy-of-a-hunting-scene-pen...
