Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Ive had this lockblade for about 15 yrs and so far cant find anything on it. I even contacted frost cutlery and got no response.

Its unsharpened, has "the gambler"and dice bead blasted into the blade and says "1 of 600" with the number 440C which I'm sure is the model number.

Unfortunely I dont have the original box but that could probably be replaced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the record it looks like the Blade etch says "The Gambler" with graphics

440C is the type of steel in the blade.

My guess is from the 1980's however the question is who made them at that point?

This knife was made post 1980 After A.G. Russell lost control of the Hen & Rooster name- Jim Frost acquired the rights in 1983, I believe- According to an old post I found by A.G. himself in 2007, after Frost acquired. the name  Hen & Rooster was made by Klaas or contracted to Boker( more likely Klaas). Quality has slipped a lot since Frost took over, and are still an okay knife, just not the same caliber as the early Hen & Roosters.Hen & Rooster  still says their knives are made in Solingen, Germany, but rumor mill has it that many of the parts are outsourced to China and elsewhere as has happened with so many great knife companies of yesteryear. Your knife is sometimes called a "trick knife" by collectors- It is a hidden lockback or sometimes termed a sidelock- You press in on one of the bolsters to close the knife from its locked position-Stag handles-Would probably sell for $70-80 with the box, without the box less. There, are however, collectors out there still looking for this limited edition knife, so that is just an estimate

Thanks for the info john. Appreciate it much. The balse says solingen, germany but I agree sometimes its not that way. It is a sidelock and nearly drove me crazy figuring that one out. Lol
If any collector is interested it is for sale as I am downsizing and only plan on keepeing a few of my very old items.
Again thanks.
